yes americans are poor, they havent learned the secrets of investing properly. consumerist lifestyle

ie: $KNPDS

Todays America probably has some of the worst personal finance habits. But really, its not like the previous genrations did either. We still dont learn from the boom and crash cycles of the past 3 decades.

>Parents own their 160k house outright and are presently renovating it to be worth more
>They have sizeable retirement pensions from their jobs as a soldier, postal employee, and teacher plus social security
>They have 300k+ in investments
>They have about 30k in the bank/credit union
>Multiple vehicles paid off
>~100k life insurance
>They're not even in high earning professions

>Me
>Finishing college for free thanks to scholarships
>Have savings
>Have small business on the side
>Probably going to get a house in the next few years

Why do other Americans suck at money so hard?

Most of those percentages are because of blacks.

wow, we really need to give them reparations

I dont know, it kills me that they complain so hard about pajeets and foreign borns taking their jobs. We at least knew that we could be working in our shitty countries making 5 dollars a day in a fascist/communist country. Working for Mr. Shekelstein for ONLY 45k a year isnt so bad.

Get the stats by race so we can lulz

what is business

I don't think so, I think blacks are better off because they can qualify for more welfare programs

Yes.

No, the loli should be fatter and uglier. Then it may be average for America.

Thats because they cant get approved for more credit

Some of us weren't born into financially responsible parents, hell some of us didn't have parents at all and had to fend for ourselves once we were teenagers.

I'm not saying that these are excuses to not be smart with money, but we all don't have the same starting point as you.

>$117,951
>That's enough to buy 7 1/2 2010 Honda Civics

lol wtf, is the the financial equivalent of a reporter who says something is as big as 12 elephants on tv?

>Is the average american really this fucking poor?

Swissfag reporting in. Shoutout to Norway, Monaco, Dubai, Liechtenstein and Singapore

rest is poorfag as fuck. And yes, we consider the US a third world country with an abnormally obese population.

He'srightyouknow.jpg

lol you know the guy in your pic was recently beaten to death? Gotta love India

theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/16/indian-businessman-famed-for-240000-gold-shirt-beaten-to-death

Blacks make up less than 13% of the population.
While it would be possible for a small percentage of the population to skew figures such as "average household debt" it couldn't make such an impact on "40% of American's aren't saving for retirement" and "25% have no savings at all"

it's enough to provide personal transportation to a family FOR LIFE

Most people live day by day with no thought of the future. They expect the bottom to fall out at any point and all the rich and powerful to keel over and die leaving the world a ship without a captain. They smoke drink and eat their lives away and pray for the day they can hit the lottery to finally be a millionaire. They just want to live their life as carefree as possible, so they do until they go bankrupt and die.

Ok, Indian people have families where they need 7 1/2 Civics to transport the whole crew, but it's not like that's average.

>They expect the bottom to fall out at any point and all the rich and powerful to keel over and die leaving the world a ship without a captain.
or they just don't give a fuck, giving a fuck is overrated anyway.

What the hell happened to us??

What happened to the American dream....?

Obama

jews

>43,000 a year
>average
Holy fuck I make 65k/yr and i consider myself poor as fuck.

That's because you're living beyond your means

My parents aren't financially responsible, but work hard.

I took an interest in personal finance, and was taught good work ethic so I should be set for life.

Currently 19 with 17.2K saved. Paying about 5K a year after grants and scholarships for college.

I make 100k a year and only spend 20k of it. The rest of it goes into retirement. I'm 21.

>living in San Francisco
Can't secure work elsewhere because nobody hires people who don't live nearby.

Seriously, how will Obamacare affect us?

I'm a computer science student who doesn't know shit about economics, but people in my family (and elsewhere) keep talking about how Obamacare will destroy the country...

Lol. Way to waste youre prime years faggot

It makes healthcare more expensive, pushes employers to take part time employees, and raises capital gains taxes on the rich.

It affects all classes in a sense. Middle class by expensive insurance, lower/middle class by less full time employment, and upper class by increased taxes on capital gains.

So there are no advantages at all from this?

>what are weekends

I earned 85K last year and lived with parents, saving almost everything.

Spent about 6-7K all together on clothes, eating out, gas, nightlife and I'd bet I live a better lifestyle than most people.

Rest was put into investments.

What's your job?

nobody who lives with their parents has a "better lifestyle" than anyone except for highschool kids, and even then that's a stretch.

It depends. If you were working a part time job already or a full time low wage job, you may have saved money on insurance.

Otherwise, no the only ones benefiting are the insurance industry. Healthcare as a sector has seen massive growth in the past decade.

Yup. I will be homeless for the duration of my college career because housing is too expensive, and I'd rather save the money it would cost if I can find a job that would make enough for it.

Okay, I'm sorry your parents hate you, but living in a 3.5K sqft McMansion with 3 other people isn't exactly my idea of a bad lifestyle.

Also, I'm a 15 minute drive from the city.

nigger if you felt so highly about your lifestyle and living situation you wouldn't feel the need to defend it on a fucking taiwanese shoemaking board.

I love my parents and have a great relationship with them and my brothers and sisters, but I still moved out the minute I hit 18.

I lived in fucking squalor for a few years, and my parents have a huge house on a nice plot of land. I could still be living there now if I wanted to, my sister does. She's saved a lot of money by doing that.

But I think if you consider yourself a man, or even an adult, you have to go out on your own. The number of experiences I would have missed if I'd stayed at home all those years is incalculable. If I could go back in time I sure as fuck wouldn't change my mind.

Young people should be living in a tiny apartment, with room mates who are your best friends, going out every day talking to girls and enjoying yourself.

It's why "I still live with my parents" is always responded to with a lack of respect and instant judgment, no matter how nice your parents house is.

This. Most people who live with their parents are fucking unbearable manchildren.

Holy shit enjoy being poor. How autistic are you?

This:
That's really it. Real earnings of the average American have stagnated or gone down over the last 40 years or so. People should have been adjusting their lifestyles for this, but they didn't because they're fucking ignorant and stupid and only think about "how I feel right now".

Example: I have a family member who literally works at a bank, dealing with morons every single day of his life who've fucked up their finances, destroyed their credit, and ruined their lives for making stupid financial decisions. Buried themselves in credit card debt, financed new cars when they earn less than $30k a year, blew everything on a single vacation... He talks about them all the time, the dumb fucking decisions they make, and how fucking retarded they are for making these choices.

He earns 40 grand a year. But he owes about 6 grand on a motorcycle that he doesn't ride anymore. And soon he'll be out a thousand dollars because the stupid off road tires he has on his retarded lifted truck are falling apart because they aren't meant for driving on the fucking street. And he keeps his house colder than a fucking meat locker because "it's so uncomfortable when it's over 76" even though the outside temperatures here are over 110 for several months out of the year. He's been working consistently since age 16, doesn't have to pay rent, and got his car as a completely paid-for gift, yet at any given time he has less than $500 in his checking account.

I've tried to subtly tell him the irony of this, but it's not working. I might have to sit down with him and tell him straight up: "You see and complain about all the stupid shit all of your customers do, every single day. Yet, here you are doing the same things."

His story is probably true for most Americans; a total ignorance of their own personal finances, but plenty of room to badmouth "the unwashed masses".

>you're autistic!

Great rebuttal OP. Enjoy living with your fucking parents you man-baby.

Not OP you ape. And I don't live with my parents, I live in their house. Second house. If this wasn't an option, I'd be living with them.

Do you know why, monkey man? It's because when I'm 35 I will be retired and when you're 35 you're still going to have a negative net worth. Please go feed on a banana somewhere else, gorilla boy, and leave the sapient humans alone.

Jesus christ you probably cant even tell how much you sound like a manchild.

Look at this nice banana you chimp, must taste good! They have lots of bananas in so you should go ahead and

you're fucking with me, i cant believe anyone is this autistic.

Real as it gets asshole

Pic related, consider it

Great rebuttal faggot. Do you rehearse that in front of the mirror every night?

hahahahahah manchild

>And I don't live with my parents, I live in their house.

As if there's a fucking difference. I bet you're like 27 too.

Just admit you're a loser

Pretty much this, and in top of that as insurance prices keep going up less companies will want to foot the bill of giving it to full time employees also, despite any deal a healthcare salesman might give them

I don't have a negative net worth even now, I've saved plenty just working, living, socialising and being a normal person.

"Wow user, this is such a great house."
"Oh thanks, it's my parents' house..."

And another womb turned barren that day.

Because the US is a consumerist culture, people think money only can and should be spent immediately after they got it. It's mind-boggling how they think blowing thousands at Vegas is a fun activity.

Jews get too much shit in the US, they tend to know basic finance best practices like saving and investing which gives them a massive wealth edge over everyone else. But everyone blames it on nepotism.

Singapore fag here
>local Toyota costs over a 100k (government policy)
>always thought it was a big deal anywhere in the world to own a car
>mfw I find out in Ameriland a Mercedes costs as much as a Toyota here but they still struggle to pay for it

American here,
Used to be rich until I spent all my money in the tower of whores in Singapore. Feelsgoodman.jpg

>dream
youtube.com/watch?v=kJ4SSvVbhLw

What?

Don't get me wrong, Jews do have a very financially literate culture compared to other US groups, especially blacks.

But to say nepotism is a scapegoat wildly underestimates just how much nepotism there is in the Jewish community.

>why aren't Americans rich? They are lazy, slothful, spiteful, and degenerate employees filled with vitriol for each other, themselves, their work, and are left ever hopeless for bettering themselves.
(Cont.)

(Continued from above)

>They fuel themselves with sugar waters laced with anti-freeze (Mountain Dew), bone softening phosphoric acid (Pepsi,Coke,RCCola), and countless energy drinks at great expense, eat grease and lard in large amounts instead of olive oil and butter in moderation, and they smell physically awful as soon as the diseases that kill them take an early hold.

They buy cats bred with endangered species, and feed them with cans of menhaden, an overfished species.

>Implying he has to tell them that.

I'll never get the hateboner Veeky Forums has for people with rich parents. I thought you guys are all about the results? At the end of the day, a trust fund baby has still made it. Sure, it might not be "fair", but that doesn't make the success any less real.

Yeah. Most people are idiots that cant into basic financing or thinking about the future. The fact that he people in your picture have a kid when they dont have shit saved up is evidence of how retarded most people are.

>grown man has to lie to get pussy

Gee I wonder why.

Might it be women want a man and telling them you live in mom and dads house makes a woman view you as a child? A man, that is a child. A manchild if you will. The conclusion here is accurate.

There are only two options for the manchild when called out:
Admit it's accurate
or
Sperg out like this autist

Go back in time, get born in Europe in 1964, emigrate to the USA, grow up, bang pussy while your young wife makes out with her, put them both through college, retire early at age 55, not giving a fuck about social security because you don't even need it, accept official retirement payments from social security administration at the latest possible year and put those silly checks into an account for your 1 and only offspring. Die penniless "officially" so the government can't touch your money. Your offspring and technical wife and GF received the bulk of your money before you die.

Get educated, Fuck girls at the same time, pick a good one, make sure she understands your right to select an additional one at any time with her veto power limited to justifiable reasons (race, health, age, actual gender, plastic content, personality, sexual past), and then put your hard earned cash into four piles: fun (cash on hand), expenses, stocks and bonds, extraterritorial banks that are not beholding-to or are influenceable-by the American gov't/IMF.
Switzerland is still somewhat viable, Panama was never very trustworthy in my opinion especially after they removed Noriega. I suggest any of the largest independent Caribbean banks, a former Dutch bank in Indonesia, and South African banking&securities companies with legal separation of savings and securities halves' surety.

>Its Obama's fault people haven't been financially responsible for decades

Move outside San Francisco and commute in. Or alternatively, do all your shopping outside of the city or online.

>Switzerland is still somewhat viable
ummm, nope. That was like 5yrs ago. Nowadays all U.S. Persons opening up a Swiss bank account are being reported due to FATCA. Huge hassle, therefore minimum thresholds on account openings for U.S. Persons are ranging from 1-5mm$ (depending on the respective bank)

In other words, if you're American and want to hold an offshore bank account, you better be rich and tax compliant - or you're screwed and end up in obscure places where your hard earned cash just might disappear someday.

I'm Jewish and I'm still waiting for the fabulous networking opportunities ("nepotism") my religion is supposed to provide me.

No I'm not a convert and I'm not 19, yes I have top college degrees. Still rejected by everyone and poor as fuck.

>17% missisippi citizens dont have bank account

ha, that's a funny one

Six degrees of separation. Hit up your temple, if you attend, and throw a wide net. It'll take you a month, tops, to get an interview if you're an ethnic Jew.

Yes goyim, move out and barely be able to live. Be a good goy.

Meh. I live in the hood so everyone's "poor" at the local synagogue. Most Jews there have no degree, and blue-collar / low-end white collar jobs. Or a little shop at best.

>tfw my parents stunted my social growth by sheltering me and I never had a gf because they were total Christfags

Shit, I need to move out ASAP. I guess you're lucky.

You need to understand that the "average" American family is not the white-picket-fence ideal you see in TV shows; that's the average WHITE american family.

Mississippi has 16% of the population unbanked because they have a large portion of the black population living off of welfare/food stamps/the government.

Blacks, on average, are much more desperate financially, which is why you see such a disparity between the unbanked in Utah (a relatively very white state with very little in the way of immigration pressure or diversity of any sense, outside of isolated pockets near ski resorts) and the unbanked in Mississippi (where the population is 37% black, and

Not every Jew is an a secret club, but you can't deny that places like Hollywood are overwhelmingly Jewish.

My prime years will be in my late 20s when I don't have to spend 50 hours a week on this thing called "work" that other consumerist sheep need to do.

The most compelling numbers are regarding the amount of debt, etc. though. That's black people weighing down the averages, all the way.

Approximately 13% of the US population is black, and about 16% works for the Federal Government, who offers pension plans for all employees. That explains ~25-30% of the 40% not saving for retirement, and the other 10% could presumably be business owners or other self-employed people whose investment is tied up in their business, as opposed to an IRA or 401(k) (or government equivalent retirement account).

Bottom line, yes, the average American is poorly-prepared for retirement, but the numbers are seriously skewed by nigs (who are a drag on society in just about every measurable category) and government employees (who don't need to be smart about savings because momma gubmint will take care of them after they put in their 20 years).

This was me. My parents are literal 1%ers, but living with them after I turned 18 made me feel like a child.

I love my parents, they're great people who have given me lots of great things, but living with them into adulthood does not sound like my idea of a sound decision, simply because they sheltered me too much.

OP's pic exhibits the MEDIAN stats, then tried to pass it off as the AVERAGE (which is considerably higher than the median). It's wrong and dishonest.

Also it doesn't take into account the disparity between states. This graph is probably aimed at New York or California liberals who will be appalled at the idea someone lives with $43k per year, while in their states the median is much higher (pic related). Furthermore the $43k thing seems to be completely outdated and wrong. It is a lie.

>The Census Bureau estimated real median household income at $53,657 for 2014 and $54,462 in 2015
>Overall, the mean household income in the United States, according to the US Census Bureau 2014 Annual Social and Economic Supplement, was $72,641

Lrn to propaganda lil nuggaz.

Too bad I don't live in America then.

>be Jew

btw I'd buy that mercedes for 15k here after five years. Fucking suspensions are a pain though. :(

>if you consider yourself a man, or even an adult, you have to go out on your own
This.
All of the opportunities I've taken advantage of have been as the result of people I've met while living where I couldn't really afford to.
I can't think of any other way to interact with people your own age, who you'll eventually need as your network.
Hanging around a neighborhood where your parents own a house won't really do that.

It makes sense, their country is too small (719 km2) to allow millions of cars on the road.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_wealth_per_adult

Stupid fucks hahaha

Outdated data. Check the 2015 version of the report. Due to a stronger dollar and more favourable economy, the US are now way above Slovenia, and even above Germany.

Not blaming the hospital for charging $1500 for 1 Tylenol and billing the insurance company $25,000 for a biopsy.

Keep watching Fox news buddy

>Is the average american really this fucking poor?

Not really. It doesn't detail all the welfare, secion 8, and free cheeze Niggers get for just being... well, Niggers.

Ever been to soup kitchens in Oakland?

Niggers standing in line for free food while talking on their iphones and wearing their $200 air jordans, talking through they gold teeth.

American "poor" aren't poor. They literally are just lazy & entitled.

Are these "poor" the same blacks who refuse to work & just exploit the system instead?

>Ever been to soup kitchens in Oakland?

Yup. This.

Cope

22, but cope anyway

"Wow user, this is such a great house."
"Oh thanks, I actually pay some old faggot way too much for the privilege of renting it from him."
>this is you

This is basically it. I cringe at about 98% of people I know; money comes in and 3 days later it's all spent on useless shit like alcohol, going out to eat, buying new clothes (when you already have a full closet), buying a new iPhone, etc.

My parents are not rich at all. They're just incredibly lucky they had/have two sets of parents (my grandparents) that actually did save and invest, so my parents could be kept afloat. They bought this house in 2006. Just baaarely before the peak in 2007. New cars every two years, exclusively drive big trucks, an excursion, etc. The only reason they're not bankrupt is because the generation before them planned better than them.

Why are you so upset? I'm saving money because I'm not a retard and I can still sleep with women whenever I want.

Kek, this. I think we all know who the real manchildren are :^)

This. But I plan on having my "prime years" extend into my 30s, 40s, and 50s.
