Do you want to make him a house without a shop, or with a shop? If it's the former, make him something like this (except not as dilapidated obviously).

If he has a shop on the bottom floor, then it'll have to follow the style of your city.

How could I make my basement walls more interesting than just stone brick?

Vertical stone support pillars, arches on the ceiling, wood support beams (horizontal or vertical or along the camera axis), different floor levels for a wine cellar or workshop, pipes/plumbing, etc.

If you're still using low-tech materials, you have wood wall, stone wall, planked wall, brick wall, various types of woods, various metals etc.

It's in the mega folder, inside the "fresh worlds" subfolder. Its name is "Central_World". Don't bother, it's shit.

The whole corruption / crimson / hallow taking over anything is basically a meme, it would take ages for anything to actually happen. No one has ever had their jungle actually be in jeopardy or anything, it's just autism.

Moving around is tedious as shit. The map looks good... on the map. When you get into it, you realize that the person who made it didn't think that somebody would have to progress through it. There are quite a lot of issues with the terrain with sudden increases in the slope of a zone and all that.

Try it. You might like it.
