But I have tried it out.
Buildmans is moderately fun, but being on the receiving end of it is extremely cancerous. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of this game being something other than a glorified TDM, but the way they designed construciton it won't be fun in the long run, there is no strategic depth to it other than "sneak a few ANTs and an AMS close to the enemy WG, fortify, put a HIVE down, lock cont". I like open field battles, but when there are invincible turrets involved it's not fun. It got old quick.
Also, for basically everything concerning the construction patch, balance is atrociously bad. And of course, the mandatory 20% decrease in performance we get every big patch.
Construction aside, the rest of the patch was awful.

I've been playing with them less and less lately because squad leads can't seem to pick targets effectively and there's so much downtime and waiting around it's like I'm in the goddamn armed forces for real.

Which of course means I need to squad lead myself, but I suck at it just as much as they do. I'm good at killing mans, not herding cats.

If all we've got is 10 players in a squad and the squad average kdr is 0.7, trying to do a point hold, or literally anything other than assisting some other squad/platoon is total suicide. Only thing we're ever effective at is armor.

I fucking love the gauss, but you have to put dedicated effort into learning it. Which largely means 200+ hours of practice with the damn thing - and not just simply using it, but using it and actively trying to improve and use it better; experimenting with different attachment options, engagement distances, etc.

What I've learned:
1. Don't use it within 20m unless you can reliably get headshots; it's more of a mid-range support weapon
2. Burst fire 5-8 rounds at a time
3. Beyond ~100m it's probably better to fire like it's semi-auto; you have no CoF spread if you stand still and fire 1 bullet at a time
4. Bullet velocity is stupidly slow in this game, even at 20m you have to lead almost an entire body length to hit someone who's running perpendicular to you
5. Hipfire at like 5m actually works, just don't spray too long
6. For longer-distance targets, stand still and crouch(better CoF than standing) while firing. Turn on your overshield when you do this to prevent snipers headshotting you

Anchor works in 95% of the fights you'll ever get into and is easier to use without going through some kind of retarded training regimen.
