I don't understand either but apparently some people were using it as an infinite list since they're saying they had literally hundreds which is fucking stupid. I got around 100 stickers too, I spent a lot of them just levelling skills for my own amusement, I wanted to try getting something to 8, although I'm only on 7 right now. I wonder if it'll retroactively grant me goals.

I thought all the cards had the "no expiration" label.

They changed it in this update. It counted down retroactively, as well; for example, if I've had a card sitting in there for ten days, it would say 50 days remaining. So anything older than 60 is gone.
