It's a genuinely fun game for the first 50 years, but then it has the same problem EU4 has - all there really is to do is colonize and conquer.

Literally join the army. You'll live an enjoyable life for a decade or so and then you'll become an officer and live comfy as fuck. You might even lead a coup one day.
