Soul of Cinder is fantastic design-wise but he's really not that hard. I would even go as far as to call him a pushover, especially if you remember Gwyn's animations.

In certain scenarios it can take skill to beat a smart or experience player, or reward good decision making, but there's far too much imbalanced bullshit thrown in to really know when that's happening.

I just invade catacombs and one-shot hosts with CSS. It's not particularly skillful but there's no doubt there are people who would fail to even achieve a basic one-shot cheese build, and other players who have better patience than me and would get caught out less often.

The ironic thing about having a "meta" is that without established banlists or a consensus on weapon levels you'll never have a balanced game, but that goes against Souls' design so why bother.

PvP in fighting games doesn't take skill either. Two idiots can button mash at each other and have fun all day. Skill only comes into play if you want to win consistently, and that is true for both.

Nameless King is Gwyn's firstborn son. His name was stripped from the annals of history when he betrayed his father and joined the Dragons.

Before his betrayal he was the captain of the Dragonslayer knights, of which Ornstein was a high ranking member.

Ornstein left to find the nameless king/kill him, so his discarded armor is found where you fight the nameless king.

This leads to the theory that the Ornstein in Anor Londo is just an illusion (Smough is depicted as being the only remaining knight in Anor Londo, which would otherwise be a contradiction to DS1.)

It also suggests the Old Dragonslayer in DS2 was the real Ornstein, just really old and weak since he's been travelling for so long (since he's an optional boss he canonically never gets killed by the Bearer of the Curse)

Anyways, I wish there was a mode where we could fight any boss we want at any time with any loadout without going to NG+ or starting a new game. Some bosses are just really fun to fight, like Dancer and Twin Princes, but I'm not a speedrunner type
