Why are low level invasions in this game so absolute cancer?
I wanted a sl20 with a lvl2 long sword build, just to have a little low lvl pvp fun at high wall, and every invasion so far is a 4 man gank squad with end game gear waiting on me

I'm a pyromancer with 45/45 fai/int currently.

Will infusing my weapons with chaos and dark provide a similar amount of damage, just 2 different types? Or is chaos more effective?

I know chaos and dark scale with both int and faith, but I only really see pyromancer using chaos weapons so I was curious

DaS II is some bizarro world shit. The game's doing everything it can to remind me of DaS but everything feels so fucking off. It's like a dip into surrealism.

2 had very few direct references to the original, and most of those were just a handful of weapons that made a return, some NG+-only easter eggs and an optional earlygame boss.

I might be crazy, but Yhorm 1handed always seems to get a second hit, but 2handed its a toss up.

So, how are the spears ranked? Which are good and which are bad?

I'm looking for a good one on my Int build, so I prefer it to be infusable. Right now I'm looking at the Winged Spear because it gets an S-scaling with Int when Crystal-infused.

2H greataxes consistently fail to combo 2H, but their weapon art is a buff so there's no advantage to being able to WA 1H anyways.

You can't combo/stunlock them.
You can't trade hits.
Heck, even hit and run is hard to do since they teleport everywhere.

curved greatsword, halberd, glaive, katana and spear all have really good running R1s to punish that kind of gameplay if you're in favor of aggressive tactics

generally anything with a long reach and fast animation on the run swing is good. mix it up with jump attacks if they're decent and try parrying you after the second or third attempt

if they're just backpedaling with a greatshield you're pretty fucked though, there's basically nothing ingame to effectively counter that kind of nonsense

See, it really doesn't have a lot of "thing from the first game"
Most of the "cycles of kingdoms" and "so old everything about it is forgotten" is tied to new areas, items and whatnot and just a way of justifying the existence of things in drangleic that aren't actually related to drangleic, like Old Knights, Straid and so on.

For the most part, it's a way of justifying the incredibly inconsistent visual design to equipment. It's not good writing but you're really exaggerating if you're implying most of them are referring to DaS1.

that's it. there's no tactic or counterplay. you just R1 whenever his visible model is near you until either of you die, because the netcoding is too fucked to try anything fancy other than that

I'll certainly admit I could be exaggerating, but when I think of DSII I have this prevailing memory of Straid or whoever the Lost Bastille man was being really smug and being all "Oh, so they call this land Drangleic now, mwahahah I know so much more about the lost histories than you can think" and me being able to think about nothing but "you know, I've BEEN in the lost histories and I killed about everything of important that lived there, you don't need to have this attitude".
