is stellaris worth it? I've been looking around and have only seen reddit-tier dicksuckery reviews and /v/ tier "this game is awful but i can't tell you why" reviews, curious what /4xg/ thinks and oh lord i'm sorry if you've gotten this question every 10 posts

FIX BEING UNABLE TO SELECT OBSERVATION TYPE OF PRIMITIVES WITHIN SECTORS

There is somre clearly missing features and obvious balance issues, but it's still pretty fun

The best part is easily the anomalies sometimes those are pretty interesting

Great picture, slavery is edgy though.

pirate it and make up your mind. its riddled with bugs and bad design decisions but also a lot of fun stuff like the little anomalies and purging pops.

You seem to be an expert on piracy. Is the Skidrow version of the game shitty?

>Save some gaseous people
>They become whiny asshat that ask me to ferry them everywhere

Fuck gaseous people

Thanks you have a keen eye. Personally I acquired the [FitGirl Repack].

>everything I don't like is edgy

>make cool friends
>help said friends once
>turn back on them when coolio friends need help again
what an awful awful solid you are.
btw can i get a ride to Aculum IV???

>discover a fallen empire
>they have the same race name as me
>they have the same portrait as me
>they're fanatical materialists while I'm spiritual, militarist collectivists

You sound edgy.

>some pre-FTL ayy on a planet within my borders reaches FTL
>they become my vassal
>they aren't worth waiting to integrate so release them
>they can't go anywhere since they're right in the middle of my territory
>still have to wait 10 years before I can bomb them out of existence and colonise the planet with my own dudes

>white mod of your choice

You can pay $40 for this game or $60 for Distant Worlds.

Is there any reason to play Stellaris over Distant Worlds?

Stellaris is more fun

Why did nobody tell me that you can queue orders using shift key!? Debris and system research will never again be the same...

Yes. It plays like a better but less in depth distant worlds.

>fallen empire thinks he can humiliate the mighty Protoss

which is better for the amount you pay?

>queue orders using shift key
literally like any rts or 4x game has this feature you nigger

uh oh
Good news, they won't get here in time to save their precious apes that deserve purging.

No

Because pretty much every strategy game ever allows you to queue orders with the shift key. It's basically common knowledge to anyone who plays these types of games.

>Pre-order DLC and spiders deleted from OP
Fuck, anybody got it? Was playing with a pirated game with the pre-order DLC, and I just bought it and need it to keep playing.

How easy is it to get into distant worlds?

>that weak as research per turn
>those minerals and energy
>that fleet

Sure, 'mighty'
As in you're mighty ready for that fallen empire dick up your ass

Distant Worlds

I was thinking of swapping win10 to linux, is there any reason why I shouldn't?
I originally didn't go to linux because it seemed like a lot of games at the time didn't have linux support, but that doesn't seem to be the case now

mega.nz/#!pdQxQIob!buPr0t5PEDYD1den2PvlPVXl41UvEwcXHoJZDOQcbfY

Not that hard, it's somewhat designed around running a lot of your empire through AI, or at least having suggestions on and just clicking accept whenever the AI wants to do something, but letting you keep tabs on it.

>picking a fight with a FE when you're that weak
Well it was nice knowing you.

Distant Worlds fucking destroys Stellaris

Just go for it. Nowadays it's a breeze. I recommend a less-bloated Ubuntu variant, like Lubuntu.

True, I didn't even think of trying that until my second game though.

Sounds like my kind of game, how big does the scale get? Will I be lording over hundreds upon hundreds of worlds and systems at a time?

I decided to try going tall and after about 50 years realised it sucked now I'm playing catch up. At least it makes it challenging.

Wasn't my choice. That faggot was right next to a juicy planet. I took the risk.

Barely any games support Linux, don't listen to the Linux zealots that'll tell you anything to get you to switch to Linux. Do your own research before making a decision.

Depends on what you want
You can actually set up how your game will play so you can have a galaxy with 1200 starts but only a few habitable planets or the same galaxy with habitable planets everywhere

The first wave of their faggot ships.

Hundreds of systems, sure. Dunno about hundreds of colonized planets but on the larger settings it gets pretty big.

Pretty good at making your empire feel alive with having lots of private civilian ships that essentially go around running your economy.

Plenty of games have linux support, don't listen to the retard. Anyhow you could always dual-boot.

It's fine, there's literally no reason to not use linux in 2016, except for mental issues.

I hope you have tachyon lances.

What I actually like to do in DW to feel that the galaxy is more alive and the AI is less of a pushover is to start pre-warp but set up a few empires in late game tech

So it actually feels you are just reaching for the starts but you aren't the first there

kek

cheers m8.

Shit, RIP
tho I have to ask
How did you get to year 50 with that weak ass research? Did you delete all your science buildings to expand or something?

Final question, is it honestly worth the 60 dollars? Not based on whether or not I'll like it, but whether the dev(s) put 60 dollars worth of effort into the game.

>there's literally no reason to not use linux in 2016

You can either wait for the half off sale or buy the game now. It's honestly worth the 60 bucks.

As for the post you are quoting, if you are the user who asked that, I had the same problem and solved it setting the executable you'll be using (I gues DX11) in compatibility mode with windows 7.

Yes, grandmother? Do you need me to scan your internet for viruses again?

>first wave is only 12k

lucky you, most Fallen Empires have a combined might of about 90k-120k, organised into fleets of about 30k

In the modern version on steam? Probably 60 dollars worth of effort, especially since it's several expansions stacked on top of each other. The game also used to be crazy expensive if you wanted the expansions, so I guess.

I dunno though, you could probably wait and pick it up for less in the summer sale, and I personally didn't get *that* much out of it.

>You can either wait for the half off sale
Any idea on will that'll be? Looking at the news it look like the most recent half-off sale expired two weeks ago.

The current version is Distant Worlds: Universe, correct?

>supposed to be sleeping
>setting up my next race to purge the galaxy with

I misplaced my life

I think so, but it depends on what you want really
I personally think it's the best space strategy game out there

If it expired two weeks ago then it won't be happening again for a while, probably a few months.
Distant Worlds: Universe is the right one.

Yes.

Steam summer sale is june, and it'll probably go half off during that.

maybe they just went "eh this punk aint worth it"

I feel sorry for wageslaves & educucks...

I wish the FEs in my games were that weak, they always have at least 150k.

I'm between semesters. I just like to keep a sleep schedule through the summer

WE GOT DEBRIS
TACHYON LANCES SOON

>The Sector AI sucks.
>You quickly run out of Core Worlds and are forced to use Sectors to continue expanding.
>If you don't expand, your chucklefuck neighbors will send 15k fleets after you and you won't have a high enough fleet cap or earn enough credits to fend them off.

FUCK.

EVERY FUCKING TIME.

FUCK.

Yeah that was me, I tried that, no luck unfortunately.

>NEETs feeling bad for anyone
Just die in your cave already

>go on Civ Fanatics forums
>see someone saying they like Civ 6's art style
>agree with them
>get called a troll by the mods

kek

You get lance research from FE debris?

Thanks anons, I'll definite keep a look out for a sale!

Is point defense bugged?

I've been putting at least a single Guardian PD on most of my corvettes and my battleships often have two. Despite this I still get shredded by an equivalent enemy fleet that's rocket/torpedo heavy because I'm specing shields and my PD isn't doing shit. Over 9/10ths of incoming missiles seem to find their mark.

I dunno. I haven't researched passed about tier 3 for most of the labs, went to research weapons and power early because I was gonna play non aggressive and tall. My research has felt low all game this time. Wasn't a lot of research resources. Playing tall sucks.

That IS trolling though

What
There has to be more context than just that.

Yes, FE's ships are equipped with Tachyon Lances so you at least get some amount of research on them from their debris.

>OP pic
What

>Literally banning someone for supporting the company's decisions
Where's the REAL context user

>tfw even if I lose the war it's worth it now

WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING WRONG?

I HAVE A 17k FLEET.

THEY SHOULD NOT BE WIPING ME OUT IN A MATTER OF MINUTES.

FUCK.

there's some agdg shitposting faggot that got obsessed with this place
he keeps spamming our thread

You really don't even need an unlocker for this? It just werks?

I'm surprised they went backwards with their DRM.

>2370
>not having hyper shields or zero point power already

Hmm, well actually I'd be into some amateur 4x/gs games.

>missing that much T5 tech
>trying to fight a fallen empire
Dude what

Fuck off back to your own thread you fucking faggot
No one cares about your general or your autistic neckbeards thinking you are making games

>try to offer peace

?
