I miss 3U and the sweet sweet zones, for some reason Jho in 4U doesn't feel the same.
The desert was so much better in 3U too.

In 4u all zones feel so smaller compared to the previous games'

Right now I'm stuck farming the village, MH3U, because I have to cycle through the farm and boat requests.
I'm not looking for the-Best-TM weapon but rather one with the highest damage/versatility to farm the eventual monsters spawning in the forest, doesn't matter which one.

Right now I'm using the Pyro Demolisher (LS slime last branch) and try to optimize my damage input/gameplay but I feel like it's probably not the fastest way.

it had like almost twice as much monsters as Tri did mostly brand new ones too plus it added back the old weapons that Tri was missing
also you didn't have to go online just to access high rank quests

maybe people don't realize it because it never got localized but 3U would never have been as good as it was if P3rd hadn't been made
P3rd was where a lot of the progress in gen 3 came from 3U just put the finishing touches on it

Why did they even do that? It's impossible to fight Deviljho in Tri now because of the servers being shut down

also because P3rd came out within the same year as Tri people probably felt it was the game Tri should've been to begin with

I do still like Tri mostly for sentimental reasons I guess (also the way bowguns worked in that game was pretty cool and unique) but there's no denying it felt like a big step backwards after FU

Tri came out in 2009 while P3rd came out in 2010

More serious answer, it's because the fanbase they've built with MHP2G. See MHP2G had a couple of re-releases to get to that 4 million sales mark, and those 4 million people in turn bought MHP3.

how do i not die with hbg? it seems like anytime something wants me dead i get dead. evade extender doesnt really help you dodge homing rath talons or gravios sweep beams. would it be a shitter move to throw evasion +2 on a set?

both of those attacks can be cleared with evade +1, the increase in invulnerability with +2 is very small and really only lets you roll thru a few more roars you can't with +1

FU kirin is obnoxious as shit, the best way of fighting it is the polar opposite of 4U.

The chip damage is ridiculous at some points, mostly shit monkey and Bloses.

So on hbg how do you compensate for losing the sidehop when you remove the limiter? I always feel stuck and end up taking more hits.

horn gets the self minds eye, but hitting an attack that would bounce gets reduced damage, right? I haven't experimented much with it yet, but I'm wondering if blue sharpness is going to net me too many glancing blows to be worth the huge raw damage

No.

If you bounce, that just means you're hitting a shitty zone and using up double sharpness.

roll with evade extender > side hop

pretty sure a minds eye 'bounce' still only does the reduced damage as if you had bounced, it just keeps your swing animation from changing into the bounce

Was actually going to ask a similar thing about the two horns.

In practice, what makes Akantor Dark Melody a better option over Maqam Sedition who can likely keep up its sharpness up better and doesn't need S+1 or Honed Blade built on the set? On green and white respectively the two have a very similar damage output as well.
