Starting off with a personal favorite of mine

youtube.com/watch?v=EZBnsElBlVg

alan stivell is prime

youtube.com/watch?v=b8tWXHgzvoc

French royal anthem since the 16th century:

youtube.com/watch?v=4h5M78YVN8M

Templar chant is very nice, but I always tend to doubt how authentic some of it really is.

youtube.com/watch?v=uv_2x6JmuaE

I prefer the Nolwenn Leroy version:

youtube.com/watch?v=jTuBnZrLbq0

youtube.com/watch?v=2rnJ-9Oosv0&ab_channel=JohnnyAngel

anyone got more byzantine stuff? orthodox chant is lovely

youtube.com/watch?v=tyVllSkX7_s

youtube.com/watch?v=7UvesKl8_W8

english folk

I prefer the Manau version:

>Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath.

She also made some dank music:

youtube.com/watch?v=uJLXyBzMci0

This is a reconstruction of Roman music. If it is true it sounds very dark and perfect for a brothel or drug den.

This is kinda badass

that's not the authentic sound of native american music. Listen to all the drone and reverb effects.

This is a better example of native american music:
youtube.com/watch?v=EC5YHhzQU7U

I can't listen to any of her works without getting goosebumps.

>Johannes Ciconia: O Rosa Bella
Music from the 14th and 15th century Low Lands specifically the principality of Liège.

youtube.com/watch?v=bm5fWGO9INk

Byzantine chant mourning the fall of Constantinople.

The title translates to "O God, the heathen are come".

youtu.be/aK7BNKVLC08

that isn't swedish though

i know, but the words are very similar and i can understand most nearly everything being said.

cool stuff

love this

Call of Roland, based on the Song of Roland :

>Ottoman possessing French clay

THIS FUCKING NEVER HAPPENED nice music tho

youtube.com/watch?v=vF1Tl9j74Eg

Been listening to various gregorian chants recently, but i find this one the most beautiful. Also the whole Notre Dame school is generally top tier.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre_Dame_school

here ya go m8
youtube.com/watch?v=cw9zS4ObiOc

Havent noticed it until now but French clay and ICELAND kek almost as memeful as le empire itself

WE WUX
youtube.com/watch?v=mrrQT4WkbNE

Gentrified Zulu in the 1920s.

youtube.com/watch?v=RfJZu_Bz6Yo

sounds like this recording was made in the 12th century.

also the inclusion of drums and organ doesn't seem all that authentic to me. sounds like hans zimmer

Like the guy with the Cleveland Indians hat.

youtube.com/watch?v=8-EfW7gYzns

Arabic Christian chant

Bumo

Time to get real.

youtu.be/nAUoa9pmokA

Baraka was such a shit movie

>tfw you'll never play MK2 on an arcade for the first time again

>breton will die in your lifetime

youtube.com/watch?v=xWY6GMYgGjI

>favorite music from history
Have this: youtube.com/watch?v=z_TMqACTmzI

Very nice, but no way those are historically accurate.

>Them chords

Medieval music was either monophonic or used a drone.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drone_(music)

The other "rap" version posted ITT was such a complete and utter garbage that it doesnt even deserve a comment or a (You).

>Medieval music was either monophonic or used a drone.
Polyphony in european music was already a thing in the 10th century m8.

youtube.com/watch?v=H5kf0cFp4Jg

Lets get some impressionism up in here.

m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLwuCQZRLWPU4G1F09NmvOio2UDvlWLaa3&v=gMYBJE19mSY

Only in church music and still very primitive.

But I'm talking about polyphony, but the harmony. It sounds like a pop song one would play on a guitar.

Correction:
I'm not* talking about

This is my jam right here.
youtube.com/watch?v=YyknBTm_YyM

>Only in church music and still very primitive
For written down music maybe. Musical historians pretty much agree that polyphony is basically prehistoric in origins, so it wouldn't be weird for folk music to adopt it.

>I'm not talking about polyphony
>Medieval music was monophonic
Well m8, you expressed yourself badly then.

Also I'm not arguing about your specific song, only the statement you made. I haven't even listened to that video yet.

>be 5 at a roller skating rink
>watching some older kids play MK II and cuss up a storm
>mom runs over and angrily tells them to watch their language
>absolutely mortified as I slowly slink into my seat (partly due to the roller blades)

I'm obsessed with La Folia variations
here is a collection on La Folia:
folias.nl
And this is one of my favourites played by master Savall:
youtube.com/watch?v=V1HlSymdnB8

>Folia variations
Top fucking taste m9.
My favourite is Vivaldi's, but Corelli's and Bach's are great too.
youtube.com/watch?v=7v8zxoEoA_Q
youtube.com/watch?v=VHRdFILo_Yw
youtube.com/watch?v=sHK1Xhrh_sY

right on, I always played Vivaldi's version in the background while watching silent movies.

"By far the most important reason is that it is very pleasant music to listen to. There is somehow an instant appeal for listeners and composers alike. It even sounds familiar when you have never heard the piece before. The theme is very recognizable too (at least in the variations before the 20th century) so the listener feels right at home and will be able to focus on the nuances in the technique of the variations after the theme."

Can any else verify if they feel the same as us? I listened to these so much I can't even remember my first impression.

My favorite song from the Crusades :
youtu.be/NPDCsi1mbhE

Are carmina burana part of some crusade I don't know about or are you referring to the time period?

youtube.com/watch?v=F51uHpH3yQk

Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor.
