At 7 planets of aproximates, let's say, 15 pops, that's 105 pops, or +190% to tech cost. If you can't get your science to atleast 15 (which is a 200% increase from the baseline) from 7 planets, you're doing something terribly wrong.
Also, make sure to stack research speed as best you can, ALWAYS use free thought.

Sins of a Solar Empire ran fine on release. I played multiple max-AI matches on the largest maps, no problem.

Then they started adding shit.

Performance started to deteriorate with the first expansion. By the third one of the most popular mods was an 'optimisation' project that slashed texture sizes and poly counts in a desperate bid to increase performance.

The devs ended up reworking what they could and re-releasing the game as a stand-alone expansion pack, before dumping support responsibilities on Stardock and running off to make failed F2P MOBAs.

And to think they had the gall to brag about being brave enough to use 'last-gen' tech.

Now Paradox is doing the same thing, only it's 1000x worse because unlike Sins this game runs like ass AT LAUNCH. How do they expect to work like this?
