Critical modifier applies to ripostes too. LKSS is the best straight sword for parrying. If you can hardswap than BKGS is obviously better, but otherwise LKSS is the best.

Unless you want to only spam R1, LKSS is the best option. It has negligibly worse damage and range than the Dark sword, but it has better criticals and better moveset. Dark sword is obviously superior for R1 spamming, but LKSS is better otherwise.

Loran chalice was fine, Camerabeast not so much, the drops during AOE were massive.

I was talking about the straight sword category. Yes, there are better weapons for parrying and backstabbing in other categories. If you can hardswap, then BKGS is basically the best weapon for riposts.

Loran was bad in general, the FPS is just poor, even when fighting Abhorrent

anyway, this is some pretty cool shit guys, im surprised at how fun this is. its definetly faster, feels a lot more fluent and pleasant to play.

question tho, is it just because of the class im going or are many of the first npc pretty weak?

im going through undead settlement right now and honestly even the witches and the guys with the giant cleaver feel pretty weak. as in, they do damage but dont hold more than a couple attacks. that being said, due to the speed of attacks i find myself smashing slightly harder enemies to death with no problem. how does the game hold on this?

If you want to effectively parry fish in higher levels just pick up a heaving weapon and smash it into somebody three times ala hornet. Maybe if you were twinking and needed to keep light you could just go for the LKSS but that's a specifically crafted situation.

Invader gets one extra estus charge for white / yellow / purple / red dying and two estus charges for blue dying.

Not sure about the 13 sips, invader can drink 7 times max (without extra charges for dead phantoms). Maybe he was cheating.
