Wait, how are you a monk and also living in a town?

Nice ripoff of that other greentext

What happened to Pilgrimages in the Christian religion?

Seems like they used to be a big deal, but now nobody really cares about them

Crusaders killed a ton of pagans

They're still a big deal, it's just that many of the reasons people went on pilgrimage in the first place - rehabilitation for a crime/sin, traveling, etc - get done today for secular reasons.

The Catholic revisionism on Veeky Forums is fascinating. People meme too hard on the dark ages/Renaissance and the church's actions, therefore the church must have been entirely innocent and never complicit in anything they're ever accused of.

proddy pls

Is it true that Europe got "culturally enriched" by Muslims during the crusades?

The Northern Crusades? It was necessary for the creation of Prussia.

I don't give a shit about dead Muslims but I do feel kind of bad about my ancestors being forced to abandon their ancestral gods and practices by your corrupt Roman bureaucracy masquerading as a holy institution.

Are you implying that the creation of Prussia was some great good?

...

This guy is right. You're just at the opposite end of the crack pot spectrum.

Anglo detected

How would being British change anything he just said?

I wouldn't trust an Anglo to spit on me when I'm on fire, why would I trust anything he says?

Because that wouldn't change anything but your assumption of why the question/opinion was brought up in the first place.

t. (blank) detected is a shitty meme.

>Christcucks actually believe this shit

The overwhelming majority of monks were the younger sons of nobility who missed out from the inheritance. You think these indulgent nobles were going to suddenly turn into pious ascetics?

Besides, the general corruption, hypocrisy, and very indulgent of monks in the Medieval ages is quite well-established. There's a reason the 'fat happy monk' became a stock character. Even bone findings in the modern day of Medieval ossuaries reveal that many of these monks suffered from obesity in a proportion extremely high for their time.

Read some secular Medieval literature - the public's opinion of clergy is very low, and the corruption is quite the open secret.

I don't like the "Dark Ages" bullshit either, but this is cringe worthy.
Not every monk was some honorable scholar.

You want to hear some real suffering
>be Orthodox monk/scholar/nun
>do [good things]
>get brutally murdered and raped by Catholic crusaders
>your proud city burned and looted
>die
>heaven
>your weakened Empire is occupied by Muslims as a result and changed forever
>"lets see how things are for the living"
>see dumb millennials, mostly American Protestants, role-playing as crusaders
>"Crusaders were honorable warriors"
>"Deus Vult"
>"Crusades saved Europe from Islam"
