Is hoi4 good?

ai is shity and needing dlc but still yes

yes

wtf I hate johan now

yes, buy it.

Liquor? I hardly even know her!

>WW2 EUIV
Nope.

HOW THE FUCK DO I BEAT CHINA AS JAPAN IN HOI IV?

One of the best.

yes

Wester the Jew has always knew that Johan was not a good goy,

So he took Andersonn's voice, and limited his choice, so that he's nothing more than a wood toy.

>new thread
>Johan immediately lobbies his game

Reminder it lost 80% Steam users in a week for a reason

So what's the point of playing hoi4? Producing troops? I used to spend all my time managing the front, that's replaced by drawing arrows. You just watch your troops conquer stuff?

it's like i really am hitler!

...

>trusting the auto ai

what. you draw the meme arrows to get your bonus but you never activate the plan. micro that shit

is it worth it to try to get a Dutch ally?

Johan on casual watch when?

hoy was always a more niche game

yeah but they tried to bring in the more casual audience and it doesn't seem to have worked

I wonder if sales will go up at the first major sale. shame we won't have steamspy to tell us

How exactly do I play Hearts of Iron 3?

I'm launching the game but what buttons do I press?

>shame we won't have steamspy to tell us
y?

Then why are they trying to casualize it
Biting the hand that feeds you bit too much?

don't do that, hoi4 is better even as it is

No they didn't. Yes they made the interface and game less fugly but if you think this game appeals to casuals just because it doesn't look fucking awful, you're delusional.

>reskinned EU IV
>not casualized

twitter.com/Steam_Spy/status/738463579112886272

but I should know since I'm a casual who failed to get into both dh and hoi3 yet hoi4 was super easy to jump into

So what happens if you turn Germany into a cuck country?

oy fucking vey i bet johan paid him off

you get modern day Germany

>play commie chinks
>blob half of china by 1938
>allies shit on facists
>barbarossa never fires
>cant declare on japs because USSR has non agression pact with them

that was the most anti climatic grandstrategy game i ever played

twitter.com/Steam_Spy/status/742306816768512000

>twitter.com/Steam_Spy/status/738463579112886272

what the fuck?

I should add I don't mean complete casuals. I mean people who can already handle games like eu4 and ck2. hoi4 is casualized for those audiences, not for the mass market.

The mechanics for HoI4 haven't changed terribly. They finally got rid of the useless espionage tab, and cleaned up the interface. They also did away with the ridiculous mechanic of having to form armies>corps>groups>divisions which was annoying. you also don't have to set up your own fronts and create your own fall back points. Now you just tell them what you want them to do and the AI is (seemingly) more intuitive. You can control divisions individually for some maneuvers like routing. So far I'm liking HoI4 the best though.

throw in EU4 and CK2 and post results

I'm not a casual and I didn't get into HoI3 either. I can play it competently and had a few campaigns as axis powers, it's just not interesting.
And it's not that I'm not a WWII autist, I play Silent Hunter 5 with Wolves of Steel and real navigation at 100% realism.

I played EU4 and this has little in common with EU4 with the exception of the map being approximately of the same shape.

Working night shift and thinking about my current German campaign. Just invaded Poland.
When I'm done with France, how many divisions should stay and watch the borders so Britain won't try to make landings?

naval invasion nigger

The naval and air combat mechanics are way more complicated in HoI4, they were weak as fuck in HoI3. And HoI2 for that matter.

How oppressed were peasants in the middle ages? Any kingdoms/duchies who didn't use them expendable?

better treated than modern workers.

They specifically said they wanted to reduce or eliminate the barrier to entry.
If you win your first campaign, it is a game for casuals.

The medieval peasant life was jolly and easy going, like the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings, but revisionist hack historians from the Americas have painted a very negative image of what they call "the """dark""" ages"

I won my first campaign in HoI3, is that a game for casuals then?

Lieges didn't give a fuck about what they do as long as the mayors cough up taxes.

1. Start up HOI4.
2. Go to the Mods tab, and click on Mod tools.
3. Create Mod.
4. Fill in title, directory, and select graphics tag.
5. Click on Create Mod button.
6. Go to your ..Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\mod directory.
7. In the directory that you created, create the directories that your portraits go in. Ex.: gfx/leaders/ROM
8. Copy your portraits to the appropriate directories.
9. Zip up the entire mod directory along with the .mod file.
10. Upload to file site.

You had to do alot of the same stuff in three though for air support, which was annoying as fuck. I think the air mechanic of created a wing with as many planes as you actually want is fantastic compared to 3 where you could only have 100 planes in a wing. That was stupid. I like the air combat mechanic because I can keep planes in reserve to fill my existing divisions so if I need to shift my production focus I can and just count on having 400 or so planes in reserve until I start taking losses. I also only fly missions in the day time for more damage. Taking an "All Weather Specialist" is essential if you do CAS.

>The medieval peasant life was jolly and easy going,
Back breaking labor everyday and having to give one of your son's to the lord's army whenever he goes to war sounds pretty "jolly" and "easy going"

yes, but paradox is about to go public and get even more jewish than before

the future is bleak

No, I mean the actual mechanics behind air combat are more complicated. As much as I remember, the actual mechanics behind the air combat in 3 were pretty simplistic. But now it has all that bullshit with 2v1s, mission efficiency etc.

Hearts of Iron 4 players went back to playing Civilization V.

No different from today desu.

>Back breaking labor everyday

>simply can't get into HOI4
>it somehow made itself have less depth then HOI3
>too much like some shitty facebook game

Honestly the production is cool, i like the unit designer. Except for the retarded points you have to use to design shit that is retarded and is just some artificial barrier that makes no sense. At the end of the day HOI3 is just so much better at combat, the way i like it anyways. Nice encirclements, combat depth and just that strategic planning that is great.

Feels much more rewarding then HOI4. Theirs some good features in HOI4 but at the end of the day the combat is god awful and you are almost forced to use the meme arrow offensives.

Hey guys. This is my first HPM campaign as Persia. It has been decent up until now, but there are 2 things I'd like to address.

1. I conquered a state from Afghanistan. It has a lot of Persians and Hazars (i think?), so I expected that everything should run smoothly. However, I noticed that it's administration effectiveness was at 0%. I tried encouraging some bureaucrats for some month, and while their number increased, administration remained at 0% What gives? Also WHY THE FUCK DO PERSIANS AND HAZARS GET "NATIONALISM" AGAINST ME EVEN THOUGH I AM THEIR CULTURAL KIN AND I LIBERATED THEM.
pic very much related

2. Shouldn't Persia get the event about the Kurdish unification incident? I was too occupied fighting in the east and I didn't even notice that my puppets were gone. I actually realized it by reading the newspaper about an Ottoman war. This is bullshit, giving you an event is essential for both gameplay reasons and flavor.

Made this just for you Johan:)

Mission efficiency is affected by doctrines and reliability more than any other mechanic in 4. Protip: Always make your first variant a reliability upgrade. You'll get higher mission efficiency due to reliability more than air combat from weapons or engines.

Given that you are a physically inferior modern human that had his body pumped full of all kinds of wacky hormones from an early age and you have never, in your entire life, known any form of physical labor I can see why actual work might seem "back breaking" to you.

Medieval warfare was nothing like your Hollywood movies lead you to think it was, they didn't sword duel to the death on top of castle towers while Merlin desperately tried to calm the dragons

>WHY CAN'T I BLOB

yeah, planting some seeds every 4 months and picking up some carrots every 6 months sound excruciatingly painful.

It's affected a lot by range too. Huge area to cover, not much range = super shit mission efficiency.

r8

>East vs West

why you gotta remind me man

It's actually better than 3 at least. I don't get why people would hate on it. I was very good at 3, but I appreciate the mechanical improvements and UI improvements in 4.

Would it be possible to run off 0% tax on all brackets in Vic2? Just hog gold and keep demanding reparations from everyone.

I'm a retard that doesn't understand how to use my aircraft. I can't seem to move them to the theatres I want.
Are there a guide for someone who wants to know all there is to know about airplanes?

only if those reparations come from a nation with multiple times your population.

>Except for the retarded points you have to use to design shit that is retarded and is just some artificial barrier
This very same artificial barrier existed in HoI3 as far as variant creation was concerned. You had to research better engines, weapons, etc to utilize them on your planes or ships. In HoI4 this system is detached from the research tree.

It's fundamentally the same thing. Spend time to get better weapons. One difference is that HoI4 requires you to use your equipment while in HoI3 you could just have it mothballed.

Its actually better than Phantom Menace.I don't get why people would hate on it. I was really confused with first prequel but i appreciate story and acting improvement in Clone Wars.

You need a lot of bureaucrats to get a significant amount to show up

If you play as Japan it definitely screws you in Manchuria. The Manchurian airbase it lolcow useless, so you end up having to launch missions with tactical bombers from the mainland of Japan. You can upgrade airbases in China, but it's a gamble, because if you fail you basically wasted 6 months of production.

I like it. Even after putting 30 hours into HoI 3 I still didn't understand a good few mechanics, but after only 10 of HoI4 i'm pretty comfortable with it. Honestly it seems to not be complex enough in some respects though.

HoI4 confirmed for casul garbage

Go play Civ 5 you d i p

>this entire post

I actually just build an air base right next to the front line. I see no reason why I wouldn't want tp do that, given air bases are not expensive and I only need room for like 400 planes at most. That's 2 levels of air base, which is less than 1 military factory.

>what is China

Paradox lobby fuck off.
We made our mind.

A lot. They will naval invade. They will invade France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Italy. I saw an early naval invasion of Italy, and they never recovered from it.

Just do that CB against China with Portugal and you'll get that result, it's satisfying every time

You can run off of tariffs alone
Or if you have precious metal income
But your nation will be without a military or industry unless you somehow got a single capitalist

As Japan fighting in China I notice the front line tends to shift suddenly. I don't like the idea of giving the Chinese a free airbase from which to stage attacks.

>Paradox will never make a game that takes all the improvements they have made over the years and implement a much improved HOI3 combat system

There is no fuckin' way that China is ever going to push me back. They don't even have an air force, the odds are stacked against them so badly.

not this fucking meme again
bet you think they had every single day off as a religous holiday too

it's like 1.2%+. i'm afraid that this is the assimilation bug and that i will end up cucking myself to afghans. perhaps hpm knows what's up?

Where does the income from state factories go to?

I can dig out Victorian numbers which shows people lived 24 years on average with HORRIBLE HORRIBLE infant mortality.

Cut that down by 5 years and you got middle ages.

They don't, but thanks to the way 4 works you're more likely to see midgame support from British-Raj, and Australia who will both use Chinese Airbases which can seriously fuck your advance.

they don't need to. their fanboys can give them just as much money (if not more) for a game that needs 10 times less work and development.

Is there any way to make EvW playable at all? Every time i play rebels fuck up the world like 1 month after the game starts.

To the capitalists, who you tax

The state

Germany doesnt count because meme's but considering I lost my first campaign stupendously it might be because I was 14

Napoleon's Legacy v0.3.2 when?

These 1.2% are the afghan bureaucrats

Assimilation bug only happens in countries that receive immigrants, in the new world

what's the problem me lad?

think of it like a bird with a motor

I though there was a dip in the Victorian era with all that fucking pollution.
