Oddly, in the FIRST incarnation of this game, someone was playing the Fenrisian brawler, and THEY grabbed the shortbow.

She could transition into ranged if she wants to, I suppose. She seems pretty set on her naginata, though. I don't mind, there are many times of rogue or ninja.

Renya's final plan is to ALSO get a naginata, burn a seal into his palm and the counterseal onto the haft of the weapon, and basically use it like Mjolnir. Hence why he hit Tenten up for Sealing tutoring lessons.

Quite possibly! It'd be cool, I think. I'd need to get the others up to a similar level, though.

I already told Binkbonk that he almost certainly won't be getting Sage Mode during this run through.

I guess it depends on the playstyle one prefers. I, for instance, would keep a character like this at range, with a shortbow or light crossbow, which could be empowered with Lightning or Wind (if said character had those chakra natures, additionaly I would work some simple tricks and abilities involving those to be able to get a high ground). In case of the hand to hand combat a naginata, wakizashi or ninja-to would work, but mostly to eliminate enemies which occupy my chosen sniping spot.

Actually, this time I forgot to put a shortbow up for grabs in the warehouse, I think, so it could be my fault nobody grabbed it. By the same token, nobody asked Tenten for one when they visited her store either, so I dunno. A shortbow would also REALLY suit Arata, honestly, since he could tip his arrows and bolts with his various toxins.

Waniko is also Water Release. Alongside Fugetsu as part of his Boil Release. And also alongside Arata. We have no Earth Release users or Lightning Release Users.

A stealthy-close combat fighter would work - a lot of GMs don't make players roll for a stealth kill if the player got behind the person without getting seen, because it's hard to defend against a knife suddenly appearing in your throat. Waniko will mostly be - as I understand it - a glass cannon sort of character. Through the Shadows Softly will allow her to relocate where and when she is needed, allowing her to help her teammates no matter how far apart they may be, and Amegakure Diplomacy means that if she only makes one attack on the enemy before relocating again, it'll be a telling blow.

There's no reason why Water Release should be exempt from the rules of 'summon anywhere, at any time', except to make Tobirama look like a stone cold badass.

There'd be plenty of ways to do that. Say, instead of the use regulation you could have stuff like him no needing to be in contact with the element to manipulate it, allowing him to boil the water in people's blood at range or some scary shit than that. Though I suppose the last thing I should want is MORE overpowered shit in this series.

I honestly think that the whole elemental thing was flawed from the start. It would really be a lot better if the elements were used as enchancements for weapons and maybe some mobility techinques only (like we have seen Asuma using them). It would balance the powerlevels a little bit, and maybe it would have kept the ninja tools relevant for the longer period of time.

The main problem is that it was retconned like three times. The first time, Zabuza, a Jounin from the Hidden Mist and in Kakashi's Bingo Book, is amazed that Kakashi can use a Lightning Release technique like Chidori, even though it's simply a single-elemental Nature Transformation. Then it was changed that, no, each person only has a discrete number of Releases they can learn. Then it was changed that, no anyone can learn all of them if they try, they just have an affinity to one or the other, which means that Zabuza should've been even LESS impressed that he could use Lightning Release. Like, there's no difference between Kakashi's Lightning Release: Chidori and Sasuke's Fire Release: Grand Fireball Jutsu that he used back in like Chapter 4. Which is ANOTHER thing - it's never explained what limitations there are on putting Nature Transformations into techniques. If Sasuke went through the rubber ball training, could he have created a Raiton Rasengan, or Katon Rasengan? Could literally any elemental-less technique have any Nature Transformation applied to it?

Kishimoto just made things up on the spot and didn't bother trying to explain the retcons or changes.

Well, as always I am forgetting what source material we are woking with here. Which is sad, all things considered, because the possibilities... man the possibilities.

So Kakashi, for instance has mastery of offensive jutsu (and it's not possession of lightning element that's impressive, but it's execution and control), but it's impressed even Orochimaru that he was good enough to try and seal off the Curse Mark on Sauce.

I think there IS a certain limit to what jutsu natures can be attached to. Chidori, for example is just chakra, and Raikiri is the lightning nature variant.
You wouldn't find much use in a water-style Chidori or a earth-style Rasengan which are just a water balloon and a rock, respectively.

user, you throw a rock at somebody with that much of velocity and spinning and you can do shitloads of damage.

To elaborate on that, I would be fine with there being rules to the application of chakra natures. For example:
Fire is outright power
Wind is focused on more precision (cutting/penetration)
Earth is typically for defensive applications
Lightning is, while less precise than Wind, can have a stun effect
Water is while the least hard-hitting, versatile and can be used for pretty much anything

Sure it'll probably get the job done, I'm just saying there are better alternatives for some jutsu than others.

I would see water as more of the healer element, seeing as Tobirama was a "healer of souls" if you catch my drift.
