Tfw major is finance

>tfw major is finance
>tfw I have no idea what the hell is going on
Am I fucked? Graduate next year

invest in $KNPD

pls no I lost like 6k within the past year because of Veeky Forums

Shut up.
Pretend.
Welcome to being an adult.

Theres only one thing you can do: Study, study, study.

Then, when you are nearing completion of your degree, apply apply apply to all the jobs.

>finance

lol nice meme degree, you could probably make $16/h as a bank teller

>Am I fucked?
Nah.

That's not a useful degree, and there's (almost) nothing it will specifically get you into.
The point of finance (and a few others) is just to have *a* degree.
>Graduate next year
You're successfully passing a barrier that weeds out screw-ups and the inept.

Well its a major in high demand so there's that. Question though, as a finance major how much math do you use? I understand basic math is obviously needed, but I'm majoring in the same thing and I never been good in anything about algebra and geometry. I think calculus is a requirement for me at some point for the major

*above algebra and geometry

No one in finance or studying it knows anything about finance. You will be fine.

Some calculus is required for every degree. Which is fine, it's easy.
Easier than algebra. You just find slopes and areas.

There's more memorization involved than algebra, but far less than geometry.

>as a finance major how much math do you use?
Do you mean after getting the degree?
Accounting is mostly simple math with obfuscated terminology.

Thanks for the answer senpai.

For the math I meant while getting the degree. I already took statistics, the teacher was a lunatic (literally) and we used a computer program instead of actually learning stats, so I still have almost no knowledge in stats...

I'm not sure if my school/program will let me go straight to calculus when I need it or if I have to work up to it by taking trip and pre-calc.

All pre-Calc does is make sure you've got the basics of algebra down *really well*.
Whether or not you need to take it will probably be based on a standardized test.

>so I still have almost no knowledge in stats
Acquire a decent statistics textbook and work through it.
You may or may not need to take a separate analytics course.

And, memorizing jargon aside, that mostly covers the math.

Is there a degree that Veeky Forums doesn't consider a meme?

>You're successfully passing a barrier that weeds out screw-ups and the inept.
This is most people. If he has good grades and/or went to a good school, he's joined an even more exclusive clud

>Is there a degree that Veeky Forums doesn't consider a meme?
There are meaningful degrees and other boards exist for discussing them.

>This is most people.
Environmental bias. It's not most people, it's most people you interact with.

Kill yourself

Here's a guaranteed* return on your investment: *provided you have life insurance

Move to one of these places, I guess.

>other boards exist for discussing them.

No Proof? Joke.

There are meaningful degrees and other boards exist for denouncing them as memes.

> fixed

"Hey mom, moving to Cali cause I hear employment opportunities are great there."

Should have majored in Economics my nigga, you get a wider perspective and can focus on learning Finance stuff when you need it.

Kek, this is not true at all though. Maybe for the top few.

I work in Chicago and take the metro from the suburbs. It's a 30 min ride and I usually drink my coffee and read at the time. So I end up reading an hour a day going to work and back.

My apartment is $600/month and has 2 bedrooms.

Must commute from Beverly

Econometrics or actuarial too, would be much better

>you could have made 6k in the past year betting against Veeky Forums

You're supposed to learn to sound like you know what you're talking about even tho literally nobody does when it comes to the economy.

you're suggesting he should start a career as a politician?

Actuarial has more job openings and is always in demand.

He has a point though. Bernanke got reappointed despite 100% failing to do anything good about the 2008 crash while claiming the fed could handle anything.
Economics as a science is a joke.

>despite 100% failing to do anything good about the 2008 crash
What are you talking about?

In the first place, he printed and distributed $17 trillion to bail out the banks.
In the second place, the Federal Reserve Bank is a private business. How is he a politician?

matrixes and graphs are the basics of algebra?

except no one needs someonew ith a economics degree, meme degree.

>going long term in meme stocks
Good god

An economics degree is as good as a finance degree, but could have some edge if you sell the mathematical/econometric aspect of the discipline.

Graphs are at least.
Forgot about matrices, but they aren't really *that* abstract.
