I started again pretty recently, and it's good fun. Been some pretty major changes for a few characters that you'll have to read up on but overall still entertaining.

What are some of the best feels in the game, /hotsg/?

jesus Christ every single game is filled with fucking retards that dont know how to play.

- dont die in the 3v4 lane
- pick a hero that is good for chasing and killing vikings (zeratul, falstad, dehaka, etc.)
- go for objectives united and decisively - united so you outnumber your opponent at the objective, decisively because the longer you drag out an objective fight, the more value vikings get in lane

Placement matches went - 8 wins 2 losses, Diamond 3.
But my last match was a little unfair.. I got a Grandmaster on my team. (He was a tad rude but he played well so whatever.) (The victory caused him to jump 14 spaces on the grandmaster tiering, too.)
Does this mean I can actually be considered acceptable at this game?

WHY AM I PLAYING THIS GAME? JUST TO SUFFER

i'm at 2.5k and got diamond 3. the majority of my placements were with GMs, including a match that had four of the top 5 GMs. the game just kept using me as the shitter to balance out average MMR in each GM match

reminder placements did very negligible things in terms of rating, your league is 90% determined by your previously held mmr

GM doesnt mean much at this point
it's just who got a decent duoqueue and racked up wins the fastest
give it a couple of months for GMs ato accurately represent the best players

Yeah, I found myself (2400) matched against three 4000 players in the final days of preseason to balance out the one 4000 player we had on Abathur.

The other team had a 1500 Li-Li, or something to balance it out.

It will always be what you reach.

If you were very good or very bad the rating squish had a big impact on your rating, but if you're the average joe it was a small change

It must include QM MMR as a calculation or something then. By hotslog's measurement, by HL MMR was 2.4k (platinum-ish) but my QM MMR was 3.25k (top diamond/bottom masters). I ended the preseason at rank 8 (highest rank 6), and I got diamond 3 all the same.

Cleanse doesn't even have a noticable effect, pretty much every time I got cleansed I don't notice it and just figure "oh that stun went off quickly, guess I got cleansed"

dehaka is plenty tanky, there's no need to pick an ult that has virtually no impact on fights and is tricky to utilize on top of that
I'd be willing to bet it's the least popular ultimate in the game, it's not even one of those niche ults like bw aoe or one of a crappy ult that's at least fun to mess around with like BFG
