Well that's depressing. The mod communities I tend to hang around with would sacrifice their balls for source code for the respective games they make overhauls for, and treat it as if it were the holy grail.

It's a shame to see that opportunity squandered here.

You could always take a bullet for everyone else, become a coding wizard in a matter of half a decade and get shit done.

Or, play other games. It's not like people would care much once xray gets "fixed" anyway. At the absolute worse mods that aren't like STALKER at all might even become commonplace.

The saddest part about this is since the IP is in seemingly permanent limbo due to some business-retarded slav camping on the rights, STALKER now is only what the fans can make of it.

If we can't be bothered to fix the canvas the games are painted on, we're doomed to mediocrity and the slow death of the fan base.

That has been the case since after SoC 1.0004. And as I said countless times I'm glad STALKER 2 will never come out, it'd be a guaranteed disappointment with a high change of being a legit mess.
