Well this seems dead.

Just this weekend I stumbled upon Barony at a lan party and it was great fun playing it with 4 players coop. I also ended up playing it quite a bit solo after.

What makes a roguelite fun? I think it's good game play and in depth mechanics

I think it really taps into that just one more try mentality because you can restart so fast.

It's the balance between complexity and rng of roguelikes and gameplay that isn't made just out of combat reports from other genres.

Good balance makes it fun. Which is why ISAAC SUCKS SO MUCH DONKEY BALLS.

give me 1 roguelite that is well balanced

I'm sure I'm missing some events, but what exactly led to the decline of /lite/? Did people just lose interest in either discussing/playing these games?

They're built in a way so that every skill a player gets must be built on in order for them to progress further. And in turn, this makes players actually feel good and rewarded for spending the time to git gud. The only thing players can't control is Luck, which keeps the game from stagnating.

/lite/ was nice, but it died and it should've stayed dead, instead of we got a shitty chinese knock-off of /lite/

"Well Balanced " isn't exactly what I'd go for, but Isaac is either pea shooter or death, destroyer of worlds, where you're only doing a balanced amount of damage about 1/10 runs.

genuinely curious because i don't know enough i guess. Why isnt FTL gungeon or nuclear throne (never played because im ass at gungeon) considered balanced

nuclear throne is anything but balanced
you either get OP guns or you don't, also mutations are so RNG based you can very much not see one an entire run

hmm sounds kinda shitty but gungeon (im ass so feel free to calm me dumb if this is wrong) seems ok with guns balance. I usually feel like i'm dying because im bad at dodging the patterns not because my gun blows ass

Did you mean a Good Mutation like Boiling Veins, cause there's a mutation every level.

It's even worse than Nuclear Throne, because you need to get keys that randomly appear in shops, and even then chests have a chance to just give you a passive/active item instead of a gun. Though, I will say survival is based completely on your ability to dodge roll, but a lack of good weapons, or weapons at all, makes this very tedious and time consuming.

one user on here told me that if you dont pick a key up during the level there is guaranteed to be one in the shop i think once is that not right? Also, they sell guns in the shop sometimes but idk if those are bad or not.
