What are you studying, Veeky Forums? What are your ambitions after you finish?

As for mine:
>Study economics with a minor in philosophy
>Attend law school
>Practice law in some quietNew England town (See: Burlington VT)
Ultimate Reach goals:
>Get in the public eye somehow, become "famous" local, perhaps through some high profile case
>Run for small local government position i.e. Mayor
>Eventually run for something larger like Senator or Governor

A man can dream

OP you should become a selectman or other local politician. it's easy as fuck as long as you promote yourself well! small towns just vote for whoever's name they've been seeing around. my friend just did that.

Degrees Attained:
>B.Mus. in Music Tecnology
>M.Sc. in Acoustics
Degrees Undertaking
>M.Clinical Audiology

I'm gonna work as an audiologist and teacher, preferably overseas (US citizen here). The audiology will give me some prestige and a well-paying day job to always rely one, the rest of my degress and experience will give me lots of opportunities for teaching and consulting work. Designing headphones, labs, listening rooms, music and medical facilities all fall under my various areas of expertise.

c-course this doesn't really have much to do with Veeky Forums I guess

I study Bridgman and Loomis so I can draw anime porn.

6 credits away from a Bachelor's in Computer Science.

Then go be a programmer I guess.

I also draw porn.

>studying econ and Spanish, minor in European history
>PhD
>teach and write, work for Fed, work for CBO or CEA
Ultimate goal:
>Cause the greatest economic crash in history
>dismantle capitalism once and for all
Alternatively:
>move towards post-scarcity

Blog?

pls dont die

>currently studying philosophy at the graduate level in canada
>want to get PhD from Freiburg U and live in beautiful black forest
>become heidegger lite minus the nazism but twice the hermit status

How does one become recognized for philosophy nowadays with the widespread access of books for everybody.

Is it still by being part of an intellectual group and having your works spread to other intellectual books until international recognition, or would it be different nowadays due to the internet and other mass media?

which party would you run for?

not o'pea but most local elections are non-partisan and thus non-declared. mayoral races might be a little more partisan but in all the new english towns around me they just have boards of selectman, councilors, or aldermen and they don't run on a party platform. it's because there's no reason to have political parties at the town board level, they don't appoint judges, call hearings, push through majorities to pass or block legislation, etc. it's basically the board of directors at a company, they work-out strategies, balance the budget, and hire town employees. it don't matter if they declare a party or not.

You have to come up with an intolerably esoteric online "movement" like Object Oriented Ontology or alternatively you can write clickbait for buzzfeed

Is anthropology or archology a good field to get into?

i want to study interior design and maybe color theory or music.

>How does one become recognized for philosophy nowadays with the widespread access of books for everybody.

You bother getting a PhD. There's a difference between more people being knowledgeable about a topic, and you going through the motions of a huge bureaucracy to get the correct merits.

Or, you can try your luck as an autodidact and start writing books on the topic.

I have a friend who studies it, and he says it's a whole lot of fun.

I don't know about career prospects though.

>About to finish a degree in Geology
>Not very good at actually *doing* science though pretty capable of understanding concepts
>Somewhat strong writer

It's probably going to be the science journalism route for me unless I get my programming chops in shape.

Im starting translation in september, pretty excited about it. I'd like to become a freelance translator (after getting experience of course).

If things work out and if I have the time and the disposition maybe I'll pursue another degree. Could be history or linguistics.

Are you trying to do written or real-time translation? Also, what language(s)?

I didn't do well enough in state exams to study law so my dad made me repeat them.

If I get a high enough score, I'll study law and then probably try to get a gig as a legal consultant for a company or something like that.

Failing that, I'll continue working shitty construction jobs and drinking my wages as God intended.

Written translation.

English/french to spanish.

Want to finish my history degree at Oxford, maybe a PhD, teach and write. Perhaps run for office a little while after that.

Social Sciences with Licensure for undergrad, so if shit hits the fan I can teach history in a high school. American Studies Master. Found a program in Germany that sounds great. Will learn German and learn some Americas history. History of ideas related Master. What I want to focus on. Likely 16th century Europe. Doctorate in the same field. Adjunct or assistant professorship in smallish education focused university.

> Study history with a minor in japanese culture and language
> Might do a master (would be on american's influence towards japanese's popular culture after the war)
> Might also simply get a licence as an archivist
Ultimate Reach goals
> Get a job

I studied philosophy because I'm fucking retarded

finish my degree in philosophy with a minor in legal thought then sell my soul to the government for a job teaching high school for a few years. Maybe after a couple of years I'll get my doctorate and teach university students

Does which?
game development
with history on the side

I'd love to teach history for a while then eventually become some sort of museum curator or manager.

Economics + comp sci. Plan to start my own business with a few friends who both are comp sci only.

I'm studying mathematics, I only have a few more months left and I could not be happier to be finished with the degree. My goals for the next couple of years are to go into Peter Pan mode and start going on adventures. I'm going to hike the PCT next spring with my buddy, then go overseas and try to pick up a new language (probably Hebrew).

Ultimately, I want to get involved working on a large global issue. Some kind of work for an NGO with a lot of travel and opportunity to interact with folks from the developing world. I haven't put too much thought or work into it yet.

I would love to study history or archeology and hopefully get a PhD, but is it a wise choice if i'm not particularly interested in becoming a teacher?

I just enrolled in History at the university. I am very excited.
My goal is to discover trails of Aryan migrations and to study racial differences.

Architecture.

Honestly don't know if I want to practice or not. I love doing the job but most architects don't hit the sweet spot in their career till their 60s

What plans do you have beyond studying?

I will look for a farm hand-like job until I get hired at some history institute. If all else fails, I can become a writer (or commit sudoku)

Me too bro! I start my life as a grad student in 3 weeks. Pretty excited t.b.h.

Not the same person. Where you studying? Doc or Masters?

I'm doing an MA first before trying my hand in a PhD program. My advisors recommended it as my undergrad was at an unranked state uni, plus this place is funding me (yes, funding as an MA student). It's at NIU (nothing fancy but they send their grad students to places like Princeton with funding so I'm happy with my prospects.

Nice that sounds good, congrats man! I have a buddy doing the same thing. Best of luck.

Seconded. Blog?

>burlington
>vermont
>mayor
>senator

computer science.

I wish to get a job where I have to do as little as possible and be able to read books while passing time while making enough money to pay for an apartment and occasional travel.

really I'd want to be a night guard like those fat people in american movies but I don't know if that profession really exists anymore. the real reason I'm getting a college education is so I can feel superior to people who don't.

Wow, completely didn't know he was the mayor of Burlington. I guess I'll balance out his left radicalism with my right radicalism

>right radicalism

Don't worry I'm not that edgy I'm center-right at best.

Ongoing PhD in Ancient History. I just shitpost most of the time, with an occasional big beautiful text blob

The guy in the stock photo looks like Elliot from Mr. Robot.

Game Development!
Game Development!
It's computer science but FUN

But also with really bad employment prospects and if you do get a job in the industry it's long hours with low pay :(

studying history at cambridge uni
want to do a masters after
want to learn greek and latin

Where are you going to go for your masters and phd? Oxford?

>Oxford
die

I'm currently going for my bachelor in history. Want to go for a MD and PhD once I'm done. After that, I want to go into politics.

I double majored in history and anthropology and now I'm in law school.
I aim to join dad's law firm and take over once he retires (whenever that might be, grandpa kept going till his late 70s).

>goals
kek
>studying
Psychology Honours
Hopefully I can get a job in a government service or prison. After that I'm just going to toe the line and continue my hobbies.
I was only interested in the philosophical/neurological side of things anyway and without masters I won't be able to pursue that.

>Not attending the UK's equivalent of Harvard

...

>I go to Cambridge
>Harvard is built in Cambridge, Massachusetts

why would I go from Cambridge to Oxford anyway? Cambridge consistently ranks higher for History and has much tougher entry standards

>people will get philosophical, historical and political opinions without going to school

>what are your ambitions
b-b-but what if you don't have any ambitions anymore?

I've just came back of one year of studying abroad (in spain), i think i'm going to drop my studies for a while to go again to another country ( germany if i can ). I want to learn german as my 4th language. Then i'll see what the future brings

>What are you studying
electrical engineering

>What are your ambitions after you finish
I'm working at a co-op right now for an engineering firm, and I like it so far. Ideally probably something design and testing based like I'm doing now. It's a pretty comfy mix of deskwork and building so it's never too dull or physically demanding.

pic somewhat related: a design for a digital circuit I made for a project at school

>Finish my last semester of history
>Work for a little while as a high-schol teacher, maybe one or two years
>Go to film school
>Get into a masters in history
>Research and publish/produce

Any Mexibros here?

No shoo shoo

:'(

BA in Ancient History, currently in my last semester.

Planning on applying to law school next year, seems like the logical course of action for a man with an ancient history degree who doesn't want to be a teacher.

Become carpenter.

Build shit.

Get paid.

Raise family.
