I'm gonna pick up Dragon Quest Heroes because I'm really interested in the Berserk Musou and haven't played a Dynasty Warriors since the ps2. I liked them back then but everyone is so negative about them these days that I'm unsure. Is this a bad idea? How good of a game is DQ Heroes?

the reason why its negative is because they shit these games out with very little dev time, if you keep yourself to a minimum of 1 musou game a year you should be fine
dynasty warriors 8 is lacking as an example, it hardly brings up anything new, the devs even admitted it and are apparently putting alot of dev time into dynasty warriors 9
i would advise you to just wait till the berserk musou, unless the release of that is like a year away, its going to hit japan in september so...
if you play a musou now to play berserk in a couple months, it would be likely you would not be recuperated from the stale gameplay
that said, IMO the best musou is samurai warriors 4, this gen

DW8+XL is the best musou. I definitely recommend playing that. SW4 is good too but a bit lacking compared to DW8.
I hear DQH isn't as traditional musou as nearly every other game though.
