I played through around 75% of DS1 and bought 2 and 3 in the summer sale. I also played through like, 5 minutes of DS3.

What changes should I expect in the sequels? Should I just skip straight to DS3 while the multiplayer isn't mostly dead like DS1

Finish what you started, it's a hassle now, but the end is good. You might also still have the DLC to do.
You can get still multiplayer in all of them, DaS1 is only harder beause you absolutely need mods to do it on PC.

All of them change how equip load/stamina consumption/roll i-frames/poise/upgrade paths/stats work. These are all essential for combat so try not to swap around too much.

Feel free to go into 3 since you hardly lose much of its plot by skipping 2, but 2 is worth playing once.

Anyone here done a run with Dried Finger always active to get constantly hunted by invaders?

Is it me or is the Emerald Herald pretty fucking stacked? Different design team than DaS1, I know, but it seems kinda odd given the genre. Maybe it's just that red ribbon she has wrapped around her body, but it's kinda easy to notice the difference given how none of the characters in DaS1 besides Gwynevere had any sort of figure.

What's it even supposed to do though? That way is more optimised since you can ToD for a duel, invasion, or normally for PvE as you usually only need one or two ToD per bonfire. Also grants more fire resist and less dark, fire being more common in game.

Carthus Bloodring is SO underrated.

It's so underrated it hurts my fucking souls.

Absorption is fucking pointless in this game but rolling iframes are infinite value. Rolls are so broken, not making them even more broken for basically no downside is a fucking sin.

I shouldn't even say this because I don't want it to get out but I fucking love you guys too much.

user everyone here knows that. Pretty mcuh everyone on /dsg/ who avoids using it does so out of respect because as soon as someone finds out you're using, they equip the ring themselves and the fight will never end unless someone makes a very stupid mistake.

I'd rather have the ability to be all the more unhittable in the first place by ultra weapons considering how fucking slow they are in the first place, which makes such a suggestion all the more laughable. The whole point in ultra weapon matchups is that they can't hit you in the first place, and if you're actually suggesting greatswords are "great" then I'd suggest you kys.

Also we're literally talking the difference between 25% and 15% absorption here, hardly -5% absorption or some shit. Same with hornet ring big weapon swap ripostes: you're probably already dead, and also dumb/not paying attention, if you get hit with one of those.

I'm honestly much more concerned with straight and curved sword roll catches tbqh. Enjoy getting eaten alive by those instead I guess. Not getting hit by anything at all seems much more advantageous to me than tanking 1-2 more hits, but do what you want my nignog. Rolling attack builds benefit in particular, but honestly I believe pretty much every single build benefits, at least in duels (and if you're doing SL100-120 duels in DS3 I feel bad for you).

1 is fine, I've got a terribly large inventory.

Bloodring being broken is well known at this point. The only reason more people don't use it is that passive play rarely requires you actually roll enough to have it matter, and aggressive play loses to passive play.

On the one hand, I hope you're right. On the other hand, at least considering my own experience with SL120 duels, I highly doubt that. I also have no idea how you'd "find out" someone is using it, it's a pretty damn subtle effect. I'd think a carthus crutch sword user would be more likely to blame lag or his own incompetence when he missed the roll catch, and even if he did find out, the match would probably already be over.

It's supposed to get carried through PvE. Maybe be able to defend itself from an invader long enough for phantoms to deal with invader.

There was an old guy with limited coordination and reflexes a couple threads back who had trouble progressing through the game even with help. I tried to think of a build so that even someone like him would be able to finish a playthrough.

I asked for help fine tuning it multiple times but Lucy was literally the only person to actually help fine tune it with Mugen link.

I disagree. Its uses against carthus crutch sword and straight sword R1 spam is invaluable. Roll catching in general. Honestly, just sit there and consider how insane CCS's roll catching ability is, or people who are really really *REALLY* good at straight sword single R1 roll catches against people "panic rolling". If you've actually played for at least a couple hundred hours doing duels, think for a second how problematic that can be when you're facing someone who knows what they're doing in this regard.

But whatever, don't believe me. I'm offering advice at my own expense here, obviously I don't want to face other people using it all the time. Actually please don't use it, you're fine without it. You're the best, user. I'm just crazy and stupid.

I've used blood ring since I found it and never taken it off since.

I used flip ring and 0 poise in das1 so it suits my playstyle.

But blood ring would be bad on that build that you're linking too for reasons

I didn't link to any build and don't even know the build involved in the discussion btw, I'm a different user. Bloodring is my baby tho, and it's so rarely appreciated I can't help but get giddy when someone mentions it around here. We're also a pretty small community so I'm not really worried about sharing secrets here with fellow anons, even though potentially those secrets get out to reddit or whatever somehow.
