His thoughts on Michael Moore are essentially that even though much of his films are inaccurate over-generalizations at best, and fat-out lies at worst, but doesn't have a problem with the guy because they're both on the same team.

He's almost the Michael Moore for professional stupid people. The only difference being that even though both are usually wrong about history and the present issues of the day, Chomsky doesn't knowingly lie to his audience.

He's the most influential linguist of the 20th century, if not of all time. He created transformational grammar and a lot of other stuff. I'm pretty sure that every major innovation in linguistics for the past 60 years was either directly due to Chomsky, or in reaction to something Chomsky did.
