What I do on Route 66 is use the gas station and either put it in a little corner, or in the middle of the front. Works every time for me. It's absolutely great, because they can't get past the middle of the first checkpoint.

Because salt. If you notice that one of your teammates is complaining a lot, it's most likely you all will lose. It's like the first step to guaranteeing a loss. People work together better when we help each other and not place blame. I've won lots of games that way. Why, what do you know, being nice to each other actually works.

I've found that the second floor cave works really well if you use your turrets to defend it properly. Can be really hard to break and you can even stop Junkrat/Pharah from blowing it up if you place it right

I think perhaps he is trying to indicate that the adherence to a "meta" or ideal team build is a superfluous one due to the fact that the winners of Blizzard's prized esports competitions have been shown to be cheaters and therefor undermines any credibility that these "professional" players have in influencing how the common or garden player should attempt to win. The first 3 shots of S76's rifle are 100% accurate, so you if you fire in quick 3 round bursts at medium - long range you won't miss (as long as you can actually aim).
