I know someone I used to play Zelda games with when kids and one of the reasons he didn't want to play WW and TP back when they were released was because he said he hated how in games post OOT it would slowdown when you hit something. I kinda get it when seeing this. I still would hope he'd play the new games though.

I wouldn't call Skyward Sword the best Legend of Zelda game I've played but I got really invested into its story, to the point where I shunned the rest of the game and hammered out the plot as fast as possible. I don't think there's another game where I didn't take a break to go do other stuff.

SS was part of Nintendo's "cinematic" phase, along with Other M, Xenoblade and Disaster (and maybe other games I'm missing). It was the period when people wanted the story to have a big role in videogames, after the success of stuff like Uncharted. Yeah, Nintendo failed for the cinematic meme too. Granted, I'm glad they surpassed that phase. That being said SS is still a good game. Unlike Other M, I suppose.
