Play something else for a while and horde all the normal2s that they give you in low rank quests. I dunno though I started with bow in gen and never had a problem with money. Wait for the half off sales obviously. As far as shit taking too long to kill that's a problem with you, learn to play better.

Pierce shot on EVERYTHING for HBG. I know people will bitch and moan because Normal is theoretically better sometimes, but just getting Pierce Up and punching holes in literally everything is ezmode. Use your Normal shots for breaking specific parts/trash mobs. Just remember that Pierce 1 actually works better on smaller things and 3 is best for the big fuckers.

If you can line up the trajectory worth a shit in terms of getting max hits, anything you fight will probably die before you run out of Pierce ammo.

I've only been doing the offline quests and I don't have any problems with coats/zeny with my bow. I picked bow from the start. I'm going to guess this is a more obvious problem if you solo the guild quests, since you really need coating mats in there.
