Weapons get outdated yes, but these weapons become nearly unobtainable if you don't do the collection files.

I can still go farm CM's and ult for ideal/ares, but once ray collection file drops farming a ray weapon is basically not possible.

Incentivizing players to obtain the weapons while they are able is obviously the intent of it.

And ultimately, they're going to be replaced by similar or better ones anyway. By the time they expire, they're should no longer be anyone's focus.

Well, it works for a little while, until something else comes out.

This has been the case for some time now (even in previous games) where the player base tends to naturally gravitate to one or two quests in any given time frame.

Personally I think the main thing keeping other quests from getting much attention is how the server is set up, with separate lobby instances segregating all the quests and MPAs and whatnot

ULT lilipa stone grind led to people wanting eaiser ways to getting 13* and since then the game has only been about 13* and scheduled EQs, you don't play whenever you want anymore, you let sega tell you when to play now.

Ultimate client orders before the nerf were painful.
Ult was usually lively because people needed compound techs and anga weapons.
Everything was nerfed after 4 months killing it.
Easy 2 get 13 stars killed most of the anga folks.
Compound techs were no longer gained from Co's but now you can buy them from the photon shop.
They used to be 3 photon drops but now are 50 each.

People farmed the hell out of trains for months thanks to trigger. People actually went into the casinos and grinded for points. People actually played the game.

No fuck that. That's literally 0.0001% drop rates unobtainable items just like episode1. No one tried to farm jack shit in episode1 because it wasn't worth it.

We all used 50 element 9 stars because getting 50 element on a 10 star which had a 0.0001% drop rate didn't exist.

Stones/collection files are great, their implementation has been horrible for the latter, only due to schedule only EQ's.

People originally went for full breaks on Darkfalz Elder because more parts broken equals more drops. If you weren't full breaking Elder, you were literally squandering your drop chances, of course

But when the official guide was released, it revealed to everyone that the only thing that breaking the arms would get you was more units, and not the weapons everyone actually wanted.

It was not an isolated thing. For example, Backhand Smash was advised against using because it would do far too much "overkill" damage and you'd risk killing the boss outright before all his arms were broken.

I really don't understand why people are making such a big deal out of Ray. They're really good weapons, of course, but they are exactly the same as a full PB ares in terms of damage. Only 1.5% or so stronger than revo, as well.

Ares was so hilariously better than literally every single other thing in the game (not including the Fi/X meta at the time) they made everything else worthless. Ult nab was probably one of the worst implementations of 13*s possible. One of the worst periods of this game's lifespan, too.

That's been the point of the entire PSO/PSU series, you grind shit, fight bosses, get rewards and hunt for rare drops. PSO2 is the odd one out that makes you collect stones and files only available on Sega's schedule.

Except you aren't having fun while doing so, the game is a chore now.
