Buy dream car. 2007 charger. Find out the filthy v6 is a jihad engine and frequently dies younger than 80k

Just saved it from leaky water pump when i thought it was time for timing belt.

What car?

Its a GM. Enough said.

> don't have my own car
> even after saving from new job for a couple of months the best I can do is a sub-£500 shit box because insurance, tax, and maintenance are things

Then again I'm a shit driver so I need to not have so many errors in my driving before buying something nice.

I feel you. My dad died in November. Still have his old car

Was he passionate about vehicles or is it a kia rio my man?

>Had car 15 years
>545k miles
>she finally dies
>it was like watching a family member go

>80's GM
Those are very easy cars to work on and parts are the cheapest. Are you taking it to an expensive shop or doing your own work?

>Car doesn't run
part it for max bux

Its a bit of a one-off oddball car - some parts are plentiful, some are very specific and long out of production.

Ive done some work myself but mostly took it to shops. Paid for some things I didn't need done, or could have easily myself in retrospect. Paid too much for it in the first place. Problem is I'm a complete noob when it comes to mechanics and also have no garage or even a driveway to work in.

I'm not kidding when I say that Car pretty much ruined my life and finances for several years. As someone who lives on the poverty line and has had trouble finding stable work since the GFC, it pretty much ruined me.

Also fuck those mechanics, when I realized what they were doing (simply resetting the computer instead of reprogramming it, which means there is a lull before it's sensors error out again and send the car back into Limp Mode) they had already ripped thousands of dollars out of me.

10k car, thousands in repairs, my entire life savings gone.

Oh not to even mention the petrol fucking usage when it hit Limp mode. I'm not kidding when I say I was getting 1.6km to the liter. Not 16, 1 point 6 kilometers. One and a half kilometers. I had to drive this car to work for months, it would cost me $40 in fuel just to get to work and back.

>front brake making loud creak squeak

Global Financial Crisis.

Not kidding, like 90% of places I've gotten jobs in over the past 6-7 years have gone bankrupt. Very little work in my area and I'm way too poor to move.

Yeah bro get your priorities straight

Holy fuck man - what was the model/year?

2004 Opel Astra.

For some reason the fucking Sump is like an inch of the ground and made of Styrofoam or some shit, so any real bump will literally rip the entire bottom off it.

Can't wait to get my darling on the road again.

You are poor because you are retarded. No person of average intelligence would spend that much money to keep a shitbox running. No person of average intelligence would continue to take a car back to the same mechanic that many times for the same issue and spend $500 each time.

Drive to a grocery store for 1 item, get backed into from some dumb bitch who then flees.

My car is probably Totaled by my insurance.

That's just awful

Get real boob. The fact that the damage is fixable should be obvious to a 3-year old child. If your insurance company "totals" it then collect your check and buy the car back for pennies.

You never know, sounds like >yurop to me.

nice car man

What V12 was it? BMW? Also, ever tried V10?

Rotary engines are shit though. Why would you want one?

Maybe for that braap braap and just to try it out. Not going to lie, I'm interested in owning one just to see how they behave and what they need in terms of maintenance.

It's a never ending cycle of fixing shit

Once you get over the hump, you'll end up with a DD that's very reliable. But if you selected a terrible shitbox to start with, it's gonna be a big hump.

Jesus christ man, how much of a fucking retard are you? No wonder you're poor, spending that kind of money and letting people screw you over like that. And over...and over...and over kek.

Kill urself m80

Fuck you're dumb, get off my Veeky Forums

That's kinda what I'm hoping for, all the parts that I'm replacing are still original from 83 so I'm not suprised it all happened at once. 22re with ~80000km on the block. I already have a shitbox neon

Ossis raus aus deutschland

>all this shit for an Opel Astra
Jesus Christ you fucking retard, just throw it in the trash and get a 500 yuro Twongi

> engine conversion doesn't fit well

>wat are steering knuckle extension mods
>wat are spacers.
Nigga if you gonna make a d1 mobile, then you really gotta increase steering angle on any car.
Mkiii supra's have far more probs than their gay rack and steering angle.
Trust me I have one and it's a dog to make respectable in any area.
Except being lushly 80s and appealing to millenials.
Rad cars when they are slammed and parked somewhere, shit when they are doing anything more than that.

1974 Subaru DL. Was all original.

I do not want a salvaged title.

>want to get project car
>have to move into city
>rent is super expensive and it would be even more expensive

>would be expensive to get garage space

>Insurance company is finally picking up my car that I had for nearly 3 years that got totaled
>Hit in the middle of the night, no witnesses, hit and run
>it was a Kia
I'm gonna get a small pick up. Thinking of an S10 or a GMC Sonoma. I kept finding myself wishing I had a truck for a while. For now I'm gonna have to walk to work/ take the bus to places I need to go. Feels kinda weird man. Like I broke up with a long term girlfriend who I don't really love anymore but am still somehow attached to.

>steering wheel acting up, fluids and belt are fine
>take it in, get new power steering pump, still acting up
>"It's the rack and pinion" shit, get it done
>acts up again after a few months
>"It's the rack and pinion" ok, time4warranty
>you're not on record and your receipt is invalid
>"gotta repay for it all"

Idk if I should just donate it for tax rebates, sell it as is, or just do the repair and sell it to break even or minimal loss.

Maybe try a power steering cleaner to see if that helps.

This makes me fucking mad. Fucking skanks

>rounded off brake line bolt
>ordered two right rear calipers instead of one left one right
>pull out intake manifold changeover valve and dont know which way the end washer goes in
>bought coilovers and the rear are for a FWD model instead of Quattro

what is with all these faggots on here that cant work on their own shit? I first thought everyone here at least did their own work, fuck!

Anyone else waiting for a raging thunderstorm to blow in to go for a drive?

I love driving in thunderstorms. It's calming as duck.

>don't want to get rid of all-but-immortal family van, but it hasn't moved for 4 years
>ate shocks like mad last 2 years of it actually being driven
>HVAC doesn't work
>tires more likely than not dry rotted by now

>angsty sociopath NEET who has never had a job

I think it's possible to get it changed back to a non-salvage title if you can prove that all the damage is fixed.

Why didn't you just not report it to your insurance and get it fixed out of pocket if you don't want to fuck with the title being altered?

Also, did you ask the grocery store manager if they have cameras in the parking lot?

>spend 3 weeks fixing everything a timing belt took when the crank gear ate the belt.
>go out for first drive since then.
>head gasket blows a block from my house.

>driving home and exhaust cans decide to blow
>eat baked beans when i get home and fix exhaust for the 4th so i dont get defected

haha yeah everything other than 88 suspension part is easy as fuck to find though.

>but its tuned by lotus bro!

I've actually unseized this caliper and it's not helped at all, needs doing again I think

>3rd gear decided to drop in my AOD
>can still drive it, 2nd gear redlines around 45mph
>have no transmission knowledge, so assuming its trashed

I've only been launching it now with nearly 300k miles on it, wonder why. 5.0 still strong for what its in.

m5r2 swap or another AOD since they are in everything, but dont want to put $500+ into a car I got for $300 bucks

also poor doesnt help

>6 weeks have passed since a simple job turned into a full blown ignition nightmare
>don't want to give up on my first major repair
>can't even smog car
>can't drive car

I miss my car. I hate the comatose lump I've turned it into.

Bought truck like in pic. $2000 from bother in law. 02 148,000 miles.

>2 weeks in. Misfires 1 ignition coil and replaced all 8 ORIGINAL fucking plugs. Couldn't get the tickets out, took to shop...

>week later power steering line cracked. Fixed myself.

>4 weeks pass. Tickticktickticktick. Exhaust manifold leak. 3 of 8 studs so rusted they are nubs not even holding the manifold. Took to shop, they broke 5 still only charged me $400.

>1 month later (Now) brake to the floor. No leaks in brake system. It's been shit since I got it but now it horrid. I unscrewed the push rod to the pedal on the booster and saw good improvement but then it sinks after 15-30 seconds to the floor and truck rolls forward. Have to pump to get pressure back...having it professionally bled and MC checked. Praying it's not HCU.

>my neighbour has the car of my dreams
>he's 80 yo, can't drive anymore
>he loves the car and won't sell it
>He trust me and let me drive it once in a while for keeping it right and pass the emissions tests
>"I would give it to you because I know you would take care of it"
>the car comes from a foreign country and taxes were never paid, today it would cost me almost 3.000 €

A lot of people here are young and in college, so they don't have access to a lot of tools and space to work.
I do what I can, but when I needed a clutch I brought my car into a shop. Luckily I didn't get fucked.
>move to new state for grad school
>had garage at old apartment
>rent is higher here so no garage
>can only do fairly basic projects in parking lot due to space and tools

>tfw in uni and sometimes wish you went the blue collar route because by now you'd have a job, renting a shit house, and have a million projects rusting in the driveway
