All of my friends are basically different versions of Alphys.
One could be Sans-Alphys.
Another could be Frisk-Alphys.

We know that monsters were completely devastated in the human-monster ambush, so I'm not saying monsters are stronger than humans on average. The problem is there's a lot of context which makes it hard to determine how strong monsters are compared to humans.

There's just not enough information. What we're left with are monsters who believe humans are way stronger than monsters, unless they absorbed a single human soul, which supposedly would let them completely turn the tables even though by their own admission it's never happened before.

Frisk could go through the entire game without saving or dying once and still save the underground.

You don't have to be special, but it casts doubt, which is the whole point. It's another contextual cue that makes it even more difficult to determine how strong monsters actually are compared to humans. Then there's the whole influenced/controlled by Chara thing and whether/when his presence affects Frisk's abilities. It's a total mess.

I just realized after typing A neutral run is an exact example of why Frisk in particular is the chosen one.

The only way to free the monsters is to do a True Pacifist run or a Genocide run.
Frisk during neutral has just as much determination as Frisk during True Pacifist.
But the only way too free the monsters is to take the necessary actions to reach the other endings.
That is what makes Frisk the chosen one.
A human can fall into the underground with the same amount of determination as Frisk but wont do what's necessary to be the chosen one and save the monsters.
