The less the artist is in his work, the more perfect it is. When the artist is absolutely absent, then the creativity is absolutely perfect.

Why does this mean you have to start over? Jesus christ, learn to divide up your features and test them individually. You have a ton of fucking code and structure and there must be SOME value in it, now you need to determine how much by sorting out exactly what works and what does not.

>needing that many vertices when bezier curves exist

I got a better idea on how to run the scripts. There's individual things I'm going to reuse like how I parse certain blocks of text anyway.

Performance wise there's barely a different but moving 3 points to describe a curve is better than moving 16

So, submitting games to the Apple or Google Play stores... how does that work?

Just had a pretty vivid dream of playing a pixel game where every type of enemy you killed, dropped a kind of life essence, which you picked up and were able to transform into that creature at anytime, and if you died as that creature, you can't transform into that creature again until you kill another one of it's type.
Has that been done before? If not, does it sound like a good mechanic? It seemed pretty good in my dream.
William Moore
I turned bezier curves into what you see there
I'm not good enough at programming to code in bezier curves for my engine. if I am, I can't be bothered.
especially when vertices work just as well

Add Lua scripts to the mix and pretty much yes. OpenGL is optional, and you can replace it with DirectX.

>Use 'traditional' modeling software (Max, Blender etc) >Want to blow my brains out
>Use Zbrush >Actually have fun, it's intuitive to use, can do stuff in minutes that takes hours in other programs
If only I could do all my modeling there. Is there any method of doing hard surface modeling without it feeling like a chore? Moving verts and MAKE SURE TO SWIFTLOOP EVERTHING COS TURBOSMOOTH is monotonous as fuck.
Also is there a way to tell if xNormal is working (like what does that light in the bottom right mean?)? I switched monitors during a bake so the preview isn't showing up, but it's been baking an 8k AO map for 4 hours at an average of 98% CPU usage. Analyzing wait chain returns normal results but I forget the name of the software to view processes more in-depth.
Brandon Perry
how come no ones using FPS creator to make their games?
William Rodriguez
You can do the base for hard surface in zbrush, and make a clean mesh based on it in your main package. Some people actually work that way.

Is it too late to get involved with Space Jam? I know there isn't long left but I figured I could try to just like make game.
This might wind up total garbage but hopefully it's at least playable garbage.
Asher Johnson
Yeah I've seen some people do that, or even just draw the mesh over it right in Zbrush. I'll have to try it for myself.
Did you even read my post? I'm aware of the different uses, I'm saying it's more enjoyable. Also >Good luck doing low poly >Implying Zremesher isn't fucking GOAT >Implying polycount even matters anymore

I wake up at 5:45 am every day, in order no to "trigger" people around me. I sleep in a busy parking lot, from 9 to 6. That way, I don't have to pay rent, which totals 50% of all the expenses a human can have. I sleep in the driver seat, my brother in the passenger's. He also works two weeks a month to pay for all occuring expenses. And so the day begins. I work from 7 o'clock till 9 o'clock from coffee shop, totalling 14 hours of daily grind. My brother does the same, minus two weeks of nine-to-five per month. We're doing this for over 2 years. So far I've put 6,600 hours into a project (plus around 3,500 from my brother). Having a time luxury like that gave us opportunity and means to draw 32,000 custom animation frames, write music and game engine. We need another 6 months of work to finish the game. What I was trying to say is that "making it quick" and "sticking to the simple stuff" is a great way to finish the project, however you won't have much value in it without necessarily man-hours. You should look the other way around and create time instead of doing what your current timeframe dictates you. It is all about product; if you feel like you cannot achieve certain goals, simply create environment where things like that can happen Good luck with your project

Decided to just go ahead and rewrite my model rendering so it actually supports materials. Now Spyro can finally have his horns, wings and such.
Logan Howard
I would be okay with that. Especially considering that managing the collab teams is harder than expected.
Parker Carter
That'd be neat. I'ma still try and do as much as I can these next couple of days though: it'd be nice to actually finish something for once.

I'm so nervous. I hope they say they're available for contract work. Their style is really what I had in mind for this game.

Just wondering if there's interest for this.
If you guys post some pictures or videos of your game, I might producing music and sound effects for it all for a grand total of $0, if I will like your project.
I'm in for the thrills and practical expirience.
Or I could wait until the next jam and look for a collaboration I guess.
