How are these meme cars? I can kinda get the supernatural part, but they're fairly popular, but not easy to come by.

You've never seen the Supernatural fan community, have you? I had a girlfriend who was hardcore into it. Seeing what I saw completely ruined the show for me in every possible way. Plus the producers picked up on the fandom around season 5-6 and everything since then is just pandering to fat 19yo girls who think gays are the final evolution of humanity.

Supposedly, they're cheap, reliable, adorable, fuel efficient, adorable, have unique features like the seats folding into a bed as well as large fabric sunroofs.... oh and they're adorable.

In my area all they aren't rare and if you have money they are easy to come by.
For me the meme with these are:

Alright, here goes.

They're cheap as hell, as in €500 will get you a runner pretty much anywhere, no matter the amount of taxes on cars in that country.

They use a very simple 1.2l i4 engine and weigh less than 900kg (or ~2000lbs in freedom units) which makes them very fuel efficient.

They don't have many electronics to go wrong (a big weakness of French cars, traditionally) and the engine isn't really stressed all that much so they don't break very often.
If they do break, parts are cheap and plentiful because so many were sold, and certain parts are shared with other, similarly plentiful Renaults.

They're dead simple to work on because they're so basic.

The interior feels really cheap (because it is) but it's very well laid out, they're surprisingly roomy for their external dimensions.
Need to haul 4 people? Slide the rear seats back for maximum legroom.
Need to haul stuff? Slide them forward or fold them flat for a pretty big trunk.
Need some place to sleep or, uh, do other things? Fold all seats flat and you've got a double bed.

The chassis is good, because Renault knows how to make a good chassis. They're surprisingly fun to drive, as well as surprisingly comfy.

They came with a canvas sliding top, which hardly ever leaks. This was a cheap option, so many people went for it which makes it pretty easy to find one.
Cloth not your style? Go for the full-length glass sunroof instead. Harder to find, but easier to stay warm when it's cold outside.

And they're fucking adorable. Can't say no to that face.

It's the perfect car for people who need a car, but can't really afford one because taxes.

Their only major downfall is they rust quite badly.

No, I'm dead serious. €500 will get you a running Twingo in the majority of countries in mainland Europe.

That sucks, here in the Netherlands the vast majority of cars under 1k are Twingos.

I know Germany also has tons of stupidly cheap Twingos, as does pretty much every eastern European country.
Pretty sure France does too.

Honestly, I'm amazed how, after a single semi-major engine repair (distributor died) it's chugged right along for the last year. It's been amazingly reliable, with how I've been beating on it, and starts up in less than 2 second every time. With that said, it's got the safety and crumple zones of a tin can, and that worries me slightly.
