>On Sunday the 1st of may, an internal memo between Mieschke Hofmann und Partner, Porsche AG and Nissan Japan was leaked to various "dark web" sources. The leak in question details the engineer discussion of the next generation "Flamme Aufwachen", which appears to be code name for a new, ultra light 918 hypercar.
>Porsche AG's internal memo discusses the potential use of proprietary Nissan Turbocharger technology featured on the 2017 GTR, as well as the use of water induction technology similar to that recently announced by BMW.
>But most exciting is the mention of a power to weight ratio beyond 1:1, through the use of a material called Graphene. Previous use of such a material was deemed too costly for the commercial market, seeing use only on aerospace electronics and specialized medical equipment.
So this leak just went up on jalopnik like 40 minutes ago and has now been deleted, is porsche full damage control?
Why would they even get this taken down (it's not like you can, im assuming other cunts have screenshots) when it makes them look good?
I'm assuming this is bullshit but holy fuck, if it's true...this is porsche after all.
>TFW the 918 is already stupid fast >YFW they're not done yet
Austin Rogers
Who cares, the Porschistas and speculators have bought them all already.
Alexander Moore
It's still fucking awesome.
The 918 is already dominating, but they're not done yet?
Luke Morgan
Because unlike cars like the OyVeyron and Lamborghinis and shit like that, these million dollar Porsches are actually pushing technology in cars that make them faster and better This is the kind of stuff that's going to trickle down to more affordable cars over the years
Cooper Hall
>power to weight ratio beyond 1:1 holy FUCK
2015 918 curb weight is around 1678 kg with 887 hp, they'll shave off all excess weight but still, it's going to have a massive fucking upgrade in power
Ryan Gray
>918 >dominating
weird way to say P1
Daniel Wood
this. porsche is one of the most exciting companies to watch.
before the leak was pulled, the article was showing some shit about them having the same v8, turbo charged now (using the nissan and bmw tech) and also having more powerful electric batteries they've developed since.
Plus, graphene is INSANELY light if they actually managed to produce it properly. That's the biggest breakthrough. A literal gamechanger.
It's going to be stupid expensive though.
Grayson Nguyen
>dark web >taken down >no screen grab
I give than a Farage out of believable.
Nicholas Sanchez
>"dark web"
Cooper Clark
It seemed quite legit though, considering jalopnik almost never does fake bullshit (as cancer as they are), the schematics they had photos of and how it suspiciously got taken down (normally they would leave it up for the clickbait).
I'm asking if any cunts have more info, before it got pulled. I know someone here saved shit.
It is a real thing, you know. Just because normies think it's some magical place does not mean shit does not get leaked there.
Jayden Anderson
Its where you buy drugs and CP. Why would anyone leak it there? A Veeky Forums post isn't big enough to list the reasons why that makes no sense.
Juan Hernandez
It most likely got leaked there and other surface web places.
Jalopnik is just being retarded, while porsche is covering it up because it might have some shit they want to keep under wraps.
It's plausible. This actually happened with the mezger engine, so porsche has a history of trying to cover up leaks.
Isaac Smith
>flame awakening
Lucas Howard
I'm not denying the plausibility but I wonder why Porsche, a company known for being one of the earliest turbo adopters... A company with extensive (40+ years) experience turbocharging engines... Use Nissan tech?
Logan Roberts
>YFW PORSCHE IS BRINGING NAZIS BACK >YFW THEY FLIP A SWITCH AND TANKS START ROLLING OUT >YFW THEY SAVE EUROPE FROM LEFTISTS >YFW THEY BURN MERKEL ALIVE >YFW THE JEWS ARE BACK IN CAMPS >YFW EVERYONE PRAISES BASED PORSCHE FOR MAKING GOOD CARS AND SAVING THE WHITE RACE >HITLER COMES BACK
Can someone better than me write a greentext about this happening?
Pic highly related
Jonathan Carter
>yfw nazis are leftist
Evan Kelly
Perhaps it's a joint partnership where nissan shares some ideas and porsche shares some ideas.
Heaps of companies have done that before. The article was not clear on details so i dunno, but this sounds fucking awesome.
Matthew White
sounds like a toyota/subaru kind of deal, but with tech instead.
Perhaps there's something they want that's copyrighted on the new GTR and they're trading their own designs?
If that's the case it's awesome, because porsche design will trickle into new GTR's.
David Roberts
Nazis really weren't leftist.
Cooper Gray
>Nazis >National Socialists >Socialists >not the left >somehow far right
James Brown
they were kinda a mix inbetween, they employed right wing tactics and nationalism, but they took the good bits of the left.
Anyway, it would be awesome to see germany rise again and save the day.
Anthony Carter
Fair points. It does sound really intriguing and I'm aware of other collaborations between manufacturers, I just figured Porsche to stick to the Volks AG family.
How awesome would a 911 turbo be with gtr awd?
Evan Myers
>Flamme Aufwachen Clearly a Tesla codename.
Justin Evans
Porsche's own AWD system is already very capable, I don't think it'd improve that much.
Nicholas Perry
And how awesome would a GTR be with porsche engine design.
Imagine a compact v8 twin turbo going in the next gen gtr?
Holy shit, what if they're collaborating on making a twin turbo v8 capable of stupid power levels to go in both cars?
Nissan did state previously they want to go all out hypercar for the "36" so it's not that unrealistic either.
Perhaps they would do such a thing and we would see a v8, turbo GTR putting out like 1200hp (and most likely slightly detuned for the regular copies)
Jeremiah Adams
>The term "National Socialism" arose out of attempts to create a nationalist redefinition of "socialism", as an alternative to both internationalist Marxist socialism and free market capitalism.
Jeremiah White
Porsche was actually working on the 918 battery tech before tesla.
Tesla is just the apple of the car world, so normies think they invented everything.
keep in mind, the v6 thing is now old. that racing program had a setback so its possible they will not go with a v6 this time.
here's hoping they do suprise us.
Justin Morgan
>kg:HP >not lb:hp
Levi Taylor
Have you heard of Koenigsegg?
Jonathan Cook
>yfw flat 8 aircooled gtr
Chase Hall
>flat 8 MAKE IT HAPPEN
Noah Hughes
I think a whoosh is in order.
Nathaniel Thompson
Shit it would be fucking amazing.
And remember, a few months ago their engine plan crashed and they said they were going "back to the drawing board".
What if this really is it, they're doing a flat 8, twin turbo GTR?
And that's why they're included in this porsche memo...
Joseph Walker
:^)
Caleb Peterson
pretty unlikely they'd switch to a V8 they'll probably use some evolution of the VR30 or the VRX
Gabriel Rivera
Hurr Durr.
>1244 bhp >1244 kg
>this is the 2014 model, and they're developing a new car that's lighter, faster, and will break 300mph
Oliver Parker
Let me tell you that "Flamme Aufwachen" sounds 100% like something some fat retard has translated with google.
t. an actual german
Kevin Cooper
How about a Porsche transmission so you can actually launch it more the 3 times in a row and not go into limp mode or void warranties?
Caleb Lopez
Try breaking 1:1 when you also have the heavy batteries.
If they can integrate a low weight as well as the instant early torque of their batteries, it's going to be fucking stupid.
Not that i dislike the venom, but it's not a production car. It's a tuner car.
Colton Jenkins
Will it be another Lotus?
Christopher Sullivan
"Developing"
Hunter Phillips
All that power, still unable to do a WR run faster than an FR-S
Mason Morales
Not a problem on the new GTR's, they fucked up on the first ones though.
But they did rectify their mistake.
American comparing a fully tuned car to something coming out of the factory.
Brayden Jenkins
>an LS swapped Lotus built by a thief and a hack is faster than the very best Germany has to offer
Austin Reed
It still can't launch 60+ times in a row with the car not complaining like the 991 Turbo can
Landon Parker
There's cars with even lower weight to power ratios 575 HP, 1200LB And how many of these production cars are going to be rolling out of the factory? I'll be shocked if it's more than double digits
Nicholas Reed
Remind me again what speed it averaged over the two runs.
Angel Hernandez
>Venom got 2.7 seconds to 100 verified by journalists >Porsche got 2.2 seconds to 100 verified by journalists
A factory, non tuned car with less power and heavier...is still faster.
How funny.
Anthony Cook
It looks kinda lotus like
I'm curious how the koeniggersegg one compares to the 918
Hudson Carter
The thing that excites me is that graphene might be referring to graphene capacitors instead of batteries for power storage
Levi Wood
>It looks kinda lotus like
but that's a corvette with a bodykit
Thomas Hall
...You may be on to something there. This could mean a massive breakthrough in terms of energy density.
Jeremiah Myers
I will tell you again: this is most likely absolutely fake bullshit.
"Flamme Aufwachen" is a name that someone with little to no grasp of the german language came up with and mostly likely just google translated it.
Jonathan Jackson
>3000lb >3000hp There is no amount of downforce to keep a car like that from flying or instantly shattering the rims/tires/suspension
Anthony Walker
Hasn't this already been whipped by a few Brits in a shed?
Daniel Perry
I'm sure it has Shit just keeps getting faster and faster these days I wish cars were getting cheaper instead
Joseph Gonzalez
Just was about to post exactly this.
I'm not saying an 918 based update/lightweigt/semi-racecar or whatever is unlikely, but this is just a load of bull.
Brandon Garcia
>graphenea.com Also, with increased development in terms of energy storage limits for supercapacitors in general, graphene-based or hybrid supercapacitors will eventually be utilized in a number of different applications.
Vehicles that utilize supercapacitors are already prevalent in our society. One Chinese company is currently manufacturing buses that incorporate supercapacitor energy recovery systems, such as those used on Formula 1 cars, to store energy when braking and then converting that energy to power the vehicle until the next stop.
In the past, scientists have been able to create supercapacitors that are able to store 150 Farads per gram, but some have suggested that the theoretical upper limit for graphene-based supercapacitors is 550 F/g.
Isaiah Richardson
You write LaFerrari in a funny way, chap.
Jaxon James
...
Gabriel Richardson
While the P1 is really cool, and the LaF is winning the money wars, the 918, my last favorite, is by far and away the most consistent winner.
Colton Williams
That's the old "slow" 760hp one.
Jace Green
Sadly the base model 480hp version now costs £66,000 or about what you would pay for a ZL1 Camaro
Anthony Wright
I'm possibly the only one on Veeky Forums who wouldn't want an LS in my Ultima.

I'm fairly certain we've only made Graphene sheets in sizes less than 10x10cm in labs. It's feasible, but even as a prototype, it would be prohibitively expensive. Doubt Graphene will be the material for any significant structure.
But, making EVERYTHING out of carbon fiber might do. Engine will be the vast majority of the weight if everything is CF.

Jalopnik has no obligation to protect Porsches privacy, they're suppose to journalists for petesake. Their editor probably made them take it down because it's unsubstantiated or the source was a 13 year old kid with a blog in Pennsylvania.
Levi Cruz
>we've already passed peak supercar hype >Porsche has to come up with some darkweb conspiracy bullshit to get anyone to care
Jalopnik is park of Gawker Media; they have absolutely zero journalistic integrity.
Oliver Bennett
Doesn't the 919 use regular batteries though?
If they were working on capacitors, I'd kind of expect them to team up with Toyota, not Nissan, since the TS040 uses capacitors, and the Nissan (and Audi) use flywheels to round out LMP1.
Not saying it's not possible they'd switch to capacitors, but the thing about capacitors is they let all their energy out in one sort of blast, while batteries provide a much less time-constrained method of release. Much more practical in a road car, and with LMP1 regulations getting stricter now and limiting the cars' speed (they were approaching 2014 F1 lap times on power circuits last year), it'll be a little hard to justify a new race car technology when you just won Le Mans under the rule set that most allowed cool shit.
Dominic Perry
>“All journalists say GT-R is heavy, heavy, heavy - it should be lighter, lighter, lighter! I say, journalists need to develop a more professional level of thinking! More study! More thought! The GT-R needs to be this weight. A car with less weight does not handle. Lighter weight can be dangerous, and it will not be driveable by all customers.”
What's wrong with this faggot? Physics says you're wrong. This guy got too much radiation from the bomb.
Brandon Baker
car is made to work well on snow plus all that mass means you can focus on less draggy aerodynamics
Carson Baker
>they're suppose to journalists for petesake.
>jalapshit >part of gawkcocker > integrity

Easton James
You're retarded. GTR's aren't designed for snow. Just because it has AWD and maybe some clown did it once means nothing.
And as for not focusing on aero because of weight? lolno, you're only making things worse. Weight doesn't fight air resistance.
> technology to choke faggots over the internet through their screens when?
