Rimworld General

We don't have an OP pastebin yet so here's some shit

rimworldgame.com/

RimWorld follows three survivors from a crashed space liner as they build a colony on a frontier world at the rim of known space. Inspired by the space western vibe of Firefly, the deep simulation of Dwarf Fortress, and the epic scale of Dune and Warhammer 40,000.

Just noticed you can perform "remove stomach" when someone is sick with gut worms. I didn't have the balls to try though. Also someone just died to alcohol poisoning.

Protip: Kill traders. Loads of free shit. Just make sure it's hard for them to escape and kill the muffalos carrying the stuff first.

>brawler with 20 melee, full bionics, gear and scyther blades goes berserk
FUCKING
PANIC

>a wandering swordsman has joined your colony

>Be constantly marauder by fucking cougars
>Lose 2 people and 3 animals to cougars walking onto the map and attacking when I'm not looking
>Dromedary gets into a fight with a cougar
>Only one nearby colonist to help, has a 3 in melee and a club
>Dromedary and the colonist battle it out against a cat, Dromedary refuses to go down, starts fucking curbstomping the puss with its hooves
>Suddenly goes down
>Melee-kun takes his final swing, splashing the cougar's brain against the snow
>Two of the camel's legs are missing, still moves at 50% speed
I never knew I could like a Dromedary this much

You have to leave some herbivores around if you dont want the carnivore to prey on your colonist. Otherwise, just exterminate with exterme prejudice

>kill traders
>they wont came back to trade and leave you locked out of some resources that you need.
Yea.. good idea...

>Four hours into first game, doing alright. Just getting ready for winter
>Raiders attack with molotov's
>Dry lightning storm begins
>Fend off raiders, 2/5 people down due to burns/gun shot wounds
>Notice half the map is on fire with no way of stopping it as it encroaches on my base/supplies/farms
>Everything fucking burns

Anyway, is there a way to go somewhere out of the initial area you start in? The world is a big place and I want to explore!

>some cargo pods have crashed nearby
>what the fuck

They will come back as raiders. Then you just kill them. Use the comms station for good shit. Most traders only bring shit anyway.

Eat it for the lulz

animal food

What could possibly go wrong

Also, is there a way to get around the insane punishment to research for being tribal?

>Third death
>I only have one more constructor, with 4 fucking construction
Dude I've hunted every one on the map. They spawn in and get me
I'm beyond frustrated. I guess I have to press O and swipe across the goddamn map every night to catch these fucks when they spawn in

Just a reminder, people are expected to be of legal age when posting on this website.

Have more scientists and tables. That's it.

>Not scrambling every piece of food you can
Low energy mate

On a desert map, I expected the difficulty to be getting food
Suprisingly, I got a freezer full of veggies.
It's the goddamn cats that have trouble with food, and ignore the fucking camels swarming the map, going straight for my colonists
This game isn't good for my health

Forgot pic related

how do you even stop your colonists eating them? i think its random shit

i even saw my colonists feeding a whole corpse to my prisoners

Does anyone ever have problems starting games? I keep wanting to plan the perfect base from day one.

Holy shit that's so funny
>Choose to live or die. Eat your friend, or waste away
Just restrict it in you fridge and reserve it for kibble, I guess
Do people lose their shit if they eat soylent green human meat?

Me too, i usually overextend tasks i give to my initial colonists. So my base usually lack cleaners and haullers at first until i get more people.

that isnt really the point of the game unless you want it to

or just use prepare carefully and give everyone full 20's

What i am curious about now is, do you get negative modifier if you make kibble out of human corpse?

>i even saw my colonists feeding a whole corpse to my prisoners

I mean in terms of building layout and where everything goes.

Has anyone done the number on the most efficient stuff to plant and harvest?

>Be desperate for anybody to join my fucking colony, especially builders
>Get offer to defend a chick from some tribals
>Fuck it
>Get this
>Lazy, trigger happy, no dumb labor
>BUT THOSE STATS

Yeah fuck this whore you can have her back guys :^)

Three people could have saved that base. Cut the grass nigga.

>You can cut the grass

Oh, thanks.

Yeah, it grows back really fast though so keep an eye on it while the fire's burning. You'll need the fire brake to be 2-4 tiles wide so it doesn't jump across to more grass.

Well, turns out tribals are fucking incompetent.
One turret was enough to transfix their oogabooga brains.
I should probably not have my surgeons as melee units, but they both have 0 shooting :^(
If you want me to stop spamming, say so

Is there any way to customize colonists apart from their names?

How the fuck do i cure a plague?

How the fuck do you even get the plague?

does this game have lightning rods?

There's a mod, Prepare Carefully.

They gain immunity, it's up to you to keep them alive until they get to 100%

Is it me or do all the special backstory characters have Lazy?

tailoring goes under crafting right?

I don't think I can survive this.

Corn for perfect fertility, potato for gravel, Cero for short term wood, oak for long term. Dandelion in big fields because they auto sow and hay for manual feeding

Thank you. It got discontinued though, according to the forums.

Can someone give me a good Hydro layout?

It's probably because of the "I can reach anything with my potential, I just haven't cared enough to try :^)" demographic

Weird question. If I were to roof something up, but not completely, would heat still instantly leave the room, or would the rate of transfer-to-outside-temperature be slower?
Pic related

>go to rescue someone who collapsed from Hypothermia
>guy gets hypothermia getting them and bringing them back he collapses at my doorstep

-100F is no fucking joke.

I think it's still leave it fairly quickly. I had two open spaces and I still got major heat transfer.

I figured as such, but it's ok
I always have a backup plan

>finally figure out how to play the game to the bare minimum
>have good electricity and good food, a good chef and a good researcher
>my surgeon general gets the flu
>have him rest from the second it is announced till the moment the cold creeps into his corpse
>none of the others could practice any medical exercises
>get attacked by two raiders with clubs and energy shields
>think they would be easy kills for my three armed men
>they take literally no damage as they club everyone to death
guess i'll have to start over then

FUCKING

RANDY

>-100
>Volcanic Winter
I'm dyin'. Good luck.

Best part is my batteries are all fucking dead, and the wind hasn't blown in days. My heaters are sporadically on so my interior is only 4F. There's no wood on this map so I can't make a wood heater.

Fun stuff: I just had an escape pod land.

Since they didn't have a parka, it took them 5 seconds on max speed to hit Serious Hypothermia. Like it's going up 2% to 3% per second.

Honestly, I'd probably switch the lamps off to save power for the heaters, since losing fingers is probably worse than not seeing shit, but you've done better than I could've, so I sincerely hope you pull through.

Alright place your bets, lads. Will this work?
Once I got incinderary IEDs complete you can be damn sure it's gonna be lit

Fuck I keep forgetting pic related

Maybe. Hopefully.

New record low, -125F. It's 12H (aka midday) and the temps are only hitting -116. Figures I'm on a freezing map, with volcanic winter, in the middle of winter.

completely wrong.
Deep in a mountain temperature is stable 15°C.
There is no need for lights in bedrooms because pawns moods not affected during sleep.
You can use freezer to warm hallway.
Still no hydroponics?

How do you design your vents for coolers?

RANDY YOU ARE THE ULTIMATE ASSHOLE

I JUST

ARGH FUCK YOU

1. It most certain is not, my rooms swing into the negatives quite often.

2. They like to relax in their rooms, and then complain about the light. Since going outside is suicidal, especially at the moment, they are mostly trapped inside. So having lights in rooms is not the worst plan.

3. I don't even have an air conditioner. It's so cold that my freezer is just a side room with a one-layer wall for poor insulation and no heaters. It's consistently -50F.

4. Just researched them, but Solar/Wind aren't stable enough in my opinion. I'm gonna go Geothermal and use the steam vent to the southwest of my home.

You have a steam vent, if you have enough materials you can make a heating tunnel and pray its enough

Look who showed up!

Once it dies from Hypothermia, I can harvest it for oodles of meat.

thrumbos are like, immune to cold

Nope.

It's also starving because there are no trees on the map.

I think it was actually leaving before it fell unconscious from hypothermia.

Keep posting my son. I'm at work right now and everyone but me is on vacation so I'm just stood here in my warehouse with nothing to do for 9 hours a day. This general is keeping me sane.

>get a message from a guy wanting rescue
>lol i can't deal with that shit
>oh wait he is a colonist's father, guess I should save him
>he nearly dies walking through the frozen hellscape
>all raiders die from cold/shotgun fire trying to assault my home
>one of the first things he does is get into a social fight with his daughter
>I literally let a dude that beats his family into my home

well shit

>>oh wait he is a colonist's father, guess I should save him
That poses an interesting question, does the 'my relative died' mood defbuff get triggered if they die if you decline that event?

Yes. Any time a relationship is discovered it can trigger events any time. One of my folks went batshit berserk, found out after a while that his brother, who was a pirate that ran away after a failed raid, died out of the blue and he could somehow sense it, despite not occuring on the same screen.

I tried to save you after that raid, my friend. But with an Eclipse and two of my Wind Turbines down, my campfires couldn't beat back the cold.

You were a good pup, knew every skill there was.

Thanks for the response, that's good to know

Also, whoever said that inside mountains was always 15F. Here's some proof that is not the case. No vents, yet his room is -20F.

How are you guys taking people's arms and legs? I have advanced prosthetics and there's no option for that.

Ive just been installing peg legs/hook hands and then removing them

github.com/edbmods/EdBPrepareCarefully/releases

Add it to the thread pasta when you make one.

Why must the world always take the best and leave the worst? RIP Wilfred.

Am I fucked?

Should I keep this cum dumptser?

Gee I wonder why.

>shit insulation
>not even in a mountain

Yep. She will cook your meals.

How do i stop 2 guys from killing each other
social fighting getting pretty ridiculous

>a modder managed to get CR inventory system working in A14

I can almost play now.

>CR inventory system
??????

I have 3 more elsewhere. Please, add a nuclear reactor.

>all those vents and coolers
???????????????????

this timberwolf thought he was gonna have my sow for dinner. Now my sow is having him for dinner.

Room was literally 500f with no coolers. Coolers need ventilation, in my headcannon.

Loadout system added by Combar Realism mod. It allows pawns to always carry a gun, a malee weapon, grenades, a meal, whatever you set them to. And ammo, because CR adds limited ammo.

Carrying too much slows them down though.

ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=8902.0

Yes, because you have to butcher it away.

another victim taken by the sow

No.

Enjoy you faggots

>futa
>staggeringly ugly
>creepy breath

Like poetry

How the fuck did you even manage to build into an ancient ruin

It's still early game and they only triggered after opening the caskets

They managed to claw their way through one tile of granite wall before croaking

The prepare carefully mod seems to be out of date.
Is there a way i can use it with 14d?

>Get saddled with some shit pyro with no skill above fucking 2 except research and medicine which are both 10+
>Fine, whatever, sit on the research bench for the rest of your life
>Bench is in the largest room of the base, looks the best, and is the cleanest
>Not even 10 minutes later this nigger sets fire to to the damn place
