You don't have to write your own bot from scratch.

Any scriptable bot will offer the same level of ban protection so long as you keep your work private and aren't a complete idiot. The program with which I am most familiar with is Simba, an open-source clone of SCAR (whose predecessor was AutoRune — some of you may remember the most well-known packet bot, perhaps second only to RSDemon, the Chinese bot responsible for the swarms of level 3 Yew cutters several years ago?).

Then don't use the reflection aspect. Hell, Simba does allow for using your primary mouse and keyboard, in which case you don't have to worry about client detection whatsoever. In effort to promote Simba, I may've over-spoken when I said that 'any' scriptable bot will offer the same protection. Last I've heard — being close with most of Simba's developers, including the author of SMART himself, as well as those who frequently work on reflection and hook updating — it's still unknown whether Jagex can detect third-party clients specifically, or if it's a true/false, official/third-party type of detection. Pascal as a language is fine once you're used to it. I think it's much more appealing to look at than Java, but to each his own. There is a PyMML project which hasn't seen too much love. I'd enjoy writing a bot in Python.

They specificlly check if classes have been modified and collect data on garbage collection rates. They most likely analyize this data with the data detected/banned bots to be able to more accuratly identify bots. SMART evades this by not modifying the client and using JNI for reflection which offloads most of the extra memory usage from the jvm to another process.
