Why are millenials/girls so fucking stupid???

Hey /biz

Not sure if this is the right place to complain. Whatever, he's a little story for you.

>be me, mid30, trader in a small HF (CEO who also takes care of investors, research analyst and me)
>every now and then we hire an intern for 3-6 mths
>they support us with annoying admin stuff for little pay, in return they get a peek into the industry ->win/win
>this time, it's a girl
>smart, good grades, great references and an OKish work history (student jobs)
>on an unrelated note: she's really hot, but that's not why we hired her in the first place (this is not /b so pack it in again)
>I do my thing on markets, while interns work alongside CEO/IR or analyst
>I usually take interns out for lunch within the first 2 weeks of work, just to get to know them a bit better, otherwise I don't have much to do with them
>also I normally don't go out eating, so it's a good excuse for me to get off my desk once in a while
>Send her appointment (through outlook)
>she declines
>Oh, OK, but that's alright. Maybe she has a dentist/hairdressing/pedi thing or whatevs - no biggie
>invite her again the week after
>declined again
>alternatives? NO!
>walk over to her desk after the markets close and ask her what the matter is
>Did not point out I want to know more about her than what her CV says, because I thought that was obvious; like, you know: a work thing...
>So this silly bitch actually replies:
>"Oh I'm sorry user, I mean, your colleagues talk highly of you and you'd sorta be my type, too. It's just that I have a boyfriend so I can't go out with you. I hope you understand..."
>guys, honestly, I was baffled. I did not expect that.
>so all I could do is just stutter:"oh o-ok..."
>Cringeworthy, I know, but I really had no other words right then

She's 22 now and I'm shitscared what's going to happen once she enters the corporate world for real. I mean, do they get smarter or will it stay like that? Are there more of her? If this is the case, our economy is going down the drain.

L O L

I mean if she is a hot girl in finance, can you really blame her? There is so much testosterone flowing on the trading floor, people try and fuck the 40 year old secretaries.

Maybe if you had explained the situation better instead of whatever cringeworthy response you gave, she would have just said "Oh, haha sorry, of course I can go to lunch user!" Now she probably thinks you just want to bang her. lol. Have fun with that awkward office environment...

> not explaining that you do this with every intern, because it's a work thing.

Who's the retard here?

I agree with , while he could have been more clear, it's fairly clear from context that it was meant to be a nice networking thing.

I think the most reasonable explanation is pretty simple: she's a college student, she's never been in a real professional environment where work lunches occur, she's used to guys hitting on her, and she assumes every offer like that is an attempt to get in her pants.

If I was a boss I'd be very paranoid of hiring girls like that because they could misconstrue waaaay too much.

You slipped the moment to make it clear for her, you just said uh-huh okay. So it seems you agreed that you like her. But I'm pretty sure that it's not just a regular lunch for you, my advice make everything clear for yourself first. Looks like an intern pwned you.

>> not explaining that you do this with every intern, because it's a work thing.
> because it's a work thing.
> it's a work thing.
> a work thing.
>Send her appointment (through outlook)

So you never had a job, right?

>If I was a boss I'd be very paranoid of hiring girls like that because they could misconstrue waaaay too much.

Well, as a €urofag there's not much to worry about "sexual harassment" like in the U.S. There's rape (traumatised chicks bleeding out of their ass - tragic IMHO) and hysteric attention whores (SJW, Femnazis etc). Not much in between.

But I have a rather professional approach and would never jeopardize my carrer over a quicky whith that one student girl. Considering a healthy share of my own (&my partners) net worth is invested in that shop, a 10k Escort is still a bargain.

I simply really didn't know what to say when she thought I'm asking her out on a date. Speechless...

One-on-one lunches could be interpreted ambiguously.
Inviting other people would've made it more obvious it wasn't anything more than networking.

Should've at least put a meeting subject to be something like "onboarding/welcome lunch".

> I stuttered "oh o-ok"
Lmao this just reinforces that her assumption was correct. Prep your anus for a sexual harassment lawsuit autismo.

Hire me as an intern this summer, I'll go to lunch with you and don't have a boyfriend. Win-win, right?

Remember that no good deed goes unpunished. This is especially true for the corporate world and even more true for ungrateful millennials. Especially womyn. Honestly, when I have a company I will only hire white, Indian or Asian men. Women and minorities do fuck all and slow everything down. I cannot tell you how much time and money is lost because of their bullshit. Literal bullshit. women don't want to work. Period

> It's a work thing.

I know, I meant explain it when she said, "I have a boyfriend, user. Tehe".

At that point he should have said, "bitch, it's because you're an intern. I take all the interns out to lunch, you aren't special." Then she feels awkward and goes to lunch, instead of you feeling awkward and getting a serial harassment charge.

All those words for such little information. Who the fuck cares? Why are you "shitscared" for her when she enters the corporate world? Is it because you're in love with her and are really hurt she turned down lunch? Boyfriend or not, she would've gone to lunch if you were better.

I will not dignify this with an answer...

what kind of shit company would hire a girl that isn't going to be a secretary anyways?

>Why are millenials/girls so fucking stupid???

>millenials/girls are stupid because you act like a clingy sperg

because there is no legitimate answer. the whole point of your OP was?????

Look at the questions you asked...
>Why are millenials/girls so fucking stupid?
A large part of the population has always been fucking stupid.
>Do they get smarter or will it stay like that?
People do continue learning in their 20s. Some of them still will make choices you disagree with.
>Are there more of her?
Obviously

Just nonsense questions that do nothing to further productive conversation about business and finance.

Did you just want to tell us you're a trader and you talked to a hot girl?

You fucked up with the stuttering. You need more self confidence. Should've just fucking told her that there was no space for office relationships and that you always invite interns for lunch.

Make jokes with the other coworkers. Basically shame her in the office. Be like "dude that intern chick thought I was asking her out when I invited her to dinner K E K."

I'm not seeing how "millenials/girls" are so fucking stupid from OP's story, I am however seeing how fucking stupid OP is from OP's story.

Your projecting your failure as ammanager omto the intern. Good for her, she put you in your place and had you running to an online image board. Shell go far.

Fyi, make your self more clear going forward and youll avoid future embarrassments

There are 4 people in your office. Why did you send an (apparently vague) Outlook invite instead of just walking over to her desk and asking her? If you had spent 10 seconds inviting her in person, it would have been a lot more clear that it was a work thing and all of this awkwardness would have been avoided.

Don't do this. You'll look like (more of) a fool in the eyes of your coworkers. Reminds me of the high school guy who "totally laid" that girl, when in reality she wouldn't even give him the time of day

I'm in a secluded room. I have a dealerboard with direct lines to brokers and it sometimes gets really loud. Since we have clients coming into our office, we don't want to hear them profanities shouted by random sales guys. I don't leave the desk for a minor thing like asking the intern for lunch.

maybe you should be less of a disgusting neckbeard if you want little girls to like you

>I'm in a secluded room.
>I don't leave the desk for a minor thing like asking the intern for lunch.

Okay, so you blame millennials/girls for your poor communication skills. Or maybe you don't give a shit about this girl and you just wanted to come on here and post about how you work at a hedge fund and have a hot intern.

>little pay
How about you pay better you faggot.

I get the feeling OP is the only one in this thread who has a job.

OP there is a generation gap thing here. The retards in this thread would actually send an outlook invite without ever speaking to that intern to attempt to get a date.

Millennial boys are just as fucked.

My previous boss use to do this even though he was 4 meters away from me. It was a 4 man operation but he acted like it was 400.

hey OP, using your phone for a new ID isn't fooling anyone :^)

just admit that you are butthurt about being turned down by the qt new girl

OP it sounds like she just made a mistake and thought you were asking her out on a lunch date.

I used outlook for the first time two years ago, and at first I was a little confused about how everything works with it.

So........

Similar position. I work for a big accounting firm in DC and I'm 27. I always have Alumni kids email me asking about my firm and internships and how to make it, etc. They literally think their GPA matters in getting a job. They aren't in any organization. They don't have any hobbies. They don't even have experience as a teller at a bank or something. But I always get the "My GPA is ___, so my odds should be much higher than others no?" messages. Jesus Christ if you have to ask that you are retarded. Having a good GPA is a given to get any job. It's like somebody applying to be a dishwasher and saying "I got hands, so I should be able to get the job."

Nobody looks at your GPA. Every fucking college graduate has a GPA. And there are hundreds if not thousands of applicants for big companies that have 4.0 GPAs. It means nothing. We want to see references. We want to see experience, at anything. We want to see what you did while you were studying. Were you the President of the Accounting Club? Did you play any sports. What type of person are you? I don't care about your fucking GPA.

You should have just said "Same" and explained it all.

agreed
dubs and smugs of truth

OP detected.

God this guy must be seriously autistic...

>Looks like an intern pwned you.

This

Only thing to do now is jack off in a cup and throw it at her face in the parking garage. Call it workplace hazing it's no big deal do it

Just admit she foiled your plan to rape her pig

>>I usually take interns out for lunch within the first 2 weeks of work, just to get to know them a bit better, otherwise I don't have much to do with them

I am still having trouble understanding why you usually take the intern out to lunch for 2 weeks if you don't have much to do with them.

Since you arn't going to be having much to do with her, maybe she wondered why the creepy guy kept offering to buy her lunch.

>Why are you "shitscared" for her when she enters the corporate world?

Because he lurvs her.

I kinda get this part - when I started at a new place a guy I had no need to ever interact with made it his business to pull up a chair next to me and ask for my life story.

Just tell her you are gay.

No, he should have said "You're a fucking ugly bitch. I want to stab you to death and play around with your blood"

Not sure how I can prove the negative here but you guys are retards. Taking people out to lunch is the literal step one of office networking.

You don't want to be that guy who never talks to anyone and nobody knows. You want to be the guy they go to lunch with or better yet go drinking/play golf with. Playing office politics is important for career progression and looking like you are mentoring junior staff is a smart move.

Kind of depressing only OP and me get this out of all of Veeky Forums as it's so fucking basic it hurts. But then I remember this is a place to shill crypto inhabited by /r9k/ neets who are trying to make it rich without having to leave their moms basements.

>Looks like an intern pwned you.

with millenial college girls like that, it's all about power
>you asked once, no
>you asked twice, no
She's for ever above you now user, you really did fuck up though. Social dynamics are very different for the younger generation.
Honestly you're lucky she didn't file for sexual harassment.

It's called a phone. A device which allows you to talk to someone without leaving your desk.

I hope you at least explained what the lunch was intended for in the e-mail, otherwise no shit she reacted the way she did.

>Send fucking Emails to Interns, doesn't clarify whither or not the email includes an explanation as to the invitation to lunch.
>Sends it to a woman at that.
>Now she's gotta figure out your horseshit and whither or not you're trying to get yer' dick wet.

FFS I wouldn't take lunch with a new co-worker unless I'd been talking shit with them levels of comfortable.

Do normies usually socialize this loosely? Especially in the bullshit passive-aggressive neck stepping corporate environment now adays?

Nice try, OP. You're not fooling anyone.
