Yeah, I determined a long time ago that learning how to fix AC related shit was not on my list of things to do. From the sound of things I'm pretty sure it was the clutch in the compressor that went out.

You also need to evac all the refrigerant and pump in the good stuff. And considering the part brand-new is 2/3rds the total going through the dealership I determined my time was better spent elsewhere. Like 'miring the ND.

Technically I bought one while they were new back in 2012. I needed something practical for my carpool group that was better in gas than my GX. I also wanted something I could throw my dogs in the back and go on drives with, as well as have a turbo and stick shift. MS3 was still king of the hot hatches then so the choice was pretty easy.

Where are you coming from? There's a few good roads but your best bet is just taking 84 or 9 to 1.

Central Valley, Google is telling me to take I5 to 152 to 156 to 101 to 1

If you're up for a longer drive I'd suggest you take 46 towards Paso Robles all the way to the coast and then take 1 north. Driving north on 1 in the morning is probably the most scenic and undisturbed drives in California. The touge gets pretty good closer to Monterey but if you're going with other people, they would probably appreciate and the great stopping points along the way. Some of the best places to stop are along Hurst castle to look at all the Zebras and then across the street if there are any sea lions. Towards Big Sur there are a million great vista points. If you haven't done this drive before I think you definitely need to do it at least once in your life. It's worth the extra gas money and leaving the house a little earlier.

You'd be better off going to Monterey in the fastest manner and then driving down 1 to Big Sur and back or however far you feel like going. It's definitely worth seeing though, especially if you live in the ugly central valley and need a nature break.
