Honestly, on a road like that I might be doing 40-45mph. You look to be going much faster than that. No central lines so narrow road, blind corners, shitty road surface, wet etc. you really should be taking it easy unless you want to end up in a ditch.

How long have you been on the road? Cuz you seem to have entered that "few months to a year so now I'm OVER confident" phase. Which is when you're most at risk.

Rode up to West Palm Beach from Miami. It was a nice 3 hour trip on my little 300.
Aside from traffic on the way down the turnpike was nice and empty.

dr650 is a great all around DS bike
other options in that size range are pretty much the xr650L and the klr650
the former is the most offroad oriented and tallest.
the klr is the most road oriented and also the lowest power of the 3
the dr is a good split and also has the most power of them.
