Algodoo finally joins the /ded/ edition previous ded: The thread is dedicated to all games about building machines and systems out of blocks, in space or otherwise:
Corneroids, Space Engineers, Starmade, Avorion, From the Depths, Factorio, REM, Robocraft, Machinecraft, Garry's Mod, Homebrew, Besiege, Infinifactory, Scrap Mechanic, GearBlocks, and anything else welcome. Also, all these games are ded. Only ded games may join, otherwise they must have their own thread.

3rd for /egg/heim and the rather large update that will come the next time I post (probably this or next tuesday). I am no longer having to work double shifts 5 days a week so I can finally devote time to /egg/heim again. Sorry again for the delay, thank you all for bearing with me. Chuck any ideas, suggestions, or requests into the steam group for me to check out.
Next Sunday we should schedule some multiplayer or something
Thomas Lopez
Have you seen the update Nick has made on the resources?
Lucas Phillips
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
let him be happy for a bit longer
Samuel Stewart
files.catbox.moe/rrl8t0.7z Have all this shit. Included is some mostly finished DORF stuff. I won't be playing anymore now that Nick has decided to keep fucking up his game.
Cameron Campbell
No what happened?
Isaiah Lewis
Oops. My bad, sorry...
Well... wood, metal, scrap, oil and crystal have been unified under a single resource called material. Some user said that you couldn't place 6-way connectors on turrets, but i'm on devtest and i can, so i'll just guess that he only needs to git gud.
Luke Wood
You poor soul. You're so happy. So innocent.
RIP.

Ian Cook
I... What? What the fuck? Is this temporary or permanent?? Optional at least? But, I had those cool specific resource zones set up...
It's not THAT big of a deal for me but shiiiiit. What the hell nick? I imagine it was "too complicated" for noobs?
Jack Edwards
I think the coding and balancing was "too complicated" for nick.
Camden Mitchell
He never really explained why IIRC. Just had a massive autism fit.
Jason Sanders
no he was too lazy to balance it
expect more changes like this in the future
for your own sanity do not visit the ftd forums
Kevin Campbell
lewd
Parker Parker
Permanent. Not optional. Nick outright refused implementing any moddable resources. It isn't that big of a deal, but this shit has been going on for a while, and Nick has thrown one hell of a spoiled brat hissy fit this time. It'll definitely only get worse if Nick doesn't recover. FTD is dead.
He gave like 10 mutually contradicting, extremely worthless reasons that mostly just pointed towards him being a lazy fuck.
Mason Scott
> But, I had those cool specific resource zones set up... I had a finished structure and two started fortresses for those zones Nick went full autist explaining things, and got angry to the point of even threatening to stop development in the game
Colton White
Ah. Well I'll continue on making /egg/heim I guess until it no longer continues to be fun for me. One resource isn't as big a deal for me.
Fuck though I'll admit I'm a little salty as that allowed things to be comfy and shit.
Caleb Fisher
Ah what the fucking shit dude.
He was doing fine until he started dumbing things down. I wish more devs could be like Toady and just make what they want and not give a damn. Fuck.
Fuck.
Ian Gutierrez
Get ready for only more "simplifying" and "removing UI clutter".
Nick did just make what he wants and not give a damn about anyone's complaints. That's the problem.
Jaxon Ortiz
The only """"""good""""" thing we've had recently are 3m slopes and radar guided misiles
Chase Evans
I mean without being lazy.
From what I read he had all these complex ideas that the forumites utterly rejected because they are normies. He's likely pissed about that and pissed that his game isn't selling more but man throwing a fit isnt the way to go about it.

Hey Remanon, when a damage system gets implimented will angling your armor still matter? Angle still increases your effective thickness so it would make sense if more angle = more damage reduction
Austin Green
No, but I went to a female only sauna.
Julian Cook
...for what purpose?
I mean, seriously, there needs to be an alternative explanation for this erroneous and unusual behaviour, dictated other than the norm by some strange and unseemly impules, the nature of which I desire to know so I can divine the depths of either the genius or madness of such an act.
Alexander Cruz
wouldn't an angle also kind of reflect bullets? Like make them slide off?
Mason Wright
yes

projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/slowerlight.php#id--Go_Fast--Bussard_Ramjet >If your starship is moving fast enough, the widely scattered hydrogen atoms will hit your hull like cosmic rays, and damage both the ship and the crew. One can theoretically use magnetic or electrostatic fields to sweep the hydrogen atoms out of the way so the ship doesn't hit them.
>But wait a minute. Hydrogen is propellant, and could also be fusion fuel. Instead of sweeping it away, how about gathering it?
>And if you are gathering your propellant instead of carrying it along with you, your mass ratio becomes infinity. This means you could theoretically accelerate forever.

Alright try this one out: >ffmpeg -i %input file% -c:v libvpx -b:v 1068K -an %output%.webm -threads 0 Or >-c:v libvpx -minrate 1M -maxrate 1M -an -crf will fuck your shit up, you can either variable bitrate or constant bitrate
If all else fails, you can get webm for retards shell or get handbrake and encode an .mkv in VP8 then you put it in your ffmpeg/bin and do >ffmpeg -i input.mkv -vcodec copy (optional -an) output.webm Handbrake is quite a bit faster than old ffmpeg but more limited (ffmpeg can do ANYTHING if you ask it nicely)

Ion engines IRL usually use xenon for propulsion, and atmospheric thrusters would need jet fuel of some description and also have a clear air intake.
Liam Cruz

I've been reading this site a lot lately, and it's fucking mind-boggling how many engineering challenges you have to overcome to send a tin can with some guys inside to space. But all we get is KEEN.
Jack Reed
>and it's fucking mind-boggling how many engineering challenges you have to overcome to send a tin can with some guys inside to space. Sending a tin can into space is fairly straightforward, but for some reason we have erroneously assume human life has any value. So keeping the tin can's occupants alive and returning them safely becomes a real challenge.
> but for some reason we have erroneously assume human life has any value. So keeping the tin can's occupants alive and returning them safely becomes a real challenge. Well, if you spend several millions training them, you'd want them to return alive so you don't have to spend those millions again Also, you can't buy exp.

Daily reminder that bitching about turrets in REM is bitching that the mechanic hasn't rotated your tires yet when he's still building the engine on a stand outside the car.
Adam Bell

Control it from ground control. Fill it up with convicted murderers. Send said murderers to mars. Hey, it worked for strayacunt, mars is only slightly more inhospitable.
Foolproof. Now how do we reanimate skeletons?
Carter Taylor
But, anons, we already send skeletons
Ryder Gray
>Control it from ground control. Then there's no need for people inside the tin can unless you want to colonize shit. >marstralia and start starcraft IRL?

He's an idiot, but he found a truffle here.
0-risk space travel is the whole reason we aren't on Venus or Mars right now. We insist on an incredibly ludicrous safety margin in our space exploration.
Consider it like "searching for the new world" but you are not permitted to leave visual contact with the shore or another ship.
Jordan Hughes
>Then there's no need for people inside the tin can unless you want to colonize shit. Well you can test life support systems on death row murderers. Hell if I was on death row death by space clang sounds like a lot more fun than death by lethal injection.

REManon reporting from bed.
There is a reason we abandoned all hope for all games and just started our own. We love robot wars and tried to do our own. Spengies can't do robot wars multi-player, we tried exhaustively. The only effective weapons are flippers and piston clang. You also have to make absolutely sure everyone is not using gyros, thrusters, cockpits of weapons like turrets.
For some reason pubbies really like using guns in robot wars, I dunno.
Its alright with two to four non retarded people on voice comms with one definite leader and a good server, but good luck with that.
Robert Nelson
REM robot wars when
Also REM is looking promising, hope you keep up the good work!
Sebastian Scott
Then why the fuck not just make a Robot Wars game?
Carson Bailey
You can have different categories for drones to fight. Guns, pistons, drills, whatever. Grinderbot duels can be fun, focus of manueverability to grind opponent's grinder before it grinds yours.
