You put Pokemons in the gym, then you go into the shop menu and hit the shield. Depending on how many Pokemons you have active in gyms, you get a reward. 500 dust I think and ten coins for each Pokemon, up to a limit of 10.
Can only be done once every 21 hours.

Whereas if someone goes and fucks your high level portal farm up in Ingress, you're fucked and only getting low level shite until you and your buddies can level the place up again.

Really, if you want to make people butthurt, Ingress is by far the better game. It compares to PoGo in the same way that World of Warcraft compares to Eve Online.
