Well /dsg/ it's time for me to admit that I'm a massive fag who's never beaten the first Dark Souls. I've beaten every boss except Gwyn and Manus because whenever I got to end game I'd get distracted by PvP.

But now I've beaten and gotten Dark Souls 3 I'm really feeling the urge to finally fucking beat Dark Souls 1.

But I'm having a struggle: I've never used sorceries in DaS1, and I've only rarely used miracles, so I feel inclined to make a character that uses them this time around. Yet at the same time I've always felt like making a pure melee knight or warrior is the 'proper' way to do Souls. What do you guys think?

DS2 has by far the worst invasion rules in the entire franchise.
It's like DS3, only even more in favor of a host and with stupid shit like SM, lack of full orb or inability to phase through enemies.

This is absolutely true, but Sorceries in DaS1 were actually not bad, and the Oolacile+Dark spells are pretty fun to use.

Since you've already done a melee run, there's no harm in trying out different builds.

No, as of Dark Souls 3 neither the first Ornstein nor the Old Dragonslayer are the real Ornstein.

I personally wouldn't recommend a sorcerer playthrough, I find them far less engrossing and I often feel like I'm cheesing areas and bosses that were clearly designed to be tackled with melee.

Like the other guy said though, you've already basically beat the game as a standard warrior, so you might as well try something new. If nothing else I'd suggest picking a wildly different weapon, it's ridiculous how much it changes the whole game.
