What did you do to afford to pay for your first car?

What did you do to afford to pay for your first car?

my parents paid for it and I help them pay insurance

i want that k5

When I was old enough to get a job I rode my bicycle around and applied until I was hired at McDonald's. I saved every penny untill I could afford the car I wanted

sucked some mad fucking dick

I had a paper route and saved money. Once i had a car i got a job at a store. Amazing that you can get paid to go somewhere and do some work for a business.

Got good grades in school, 4-year free ride scholarship, took care of my dying grandmother, and just be a good kid and mommy/daddy paid for it.

No shame.

Hey OP, why aren't you down there buying some car-bodies to restore or sell on ebay?

...

15k frim I know what I got

It was free, so nothing.

Nothing I'm ashamed of, it wasn't a Klondike bar.

Parent paid it because it was no longer a privelage but a necessity

This

It was easier to get me a car than spend two hours a day driving me around to sports practices and anywhere else I had to go

Worked at a bilingual call center here in the third world.

>Thank you for calling CuntCast, my name is Alex. How can I help you
>mfw I got to drive home in muh awesome car after 6 hours of wagecucking

sucked a lot of dicks

Did small jobs for people that knew me, fixed computers, installed home theaters, just stuff normies didn't want to deal with, and saved all bday/Christmas money. 2-3years it got me to about 2k for my first shitbox.

no lie

I inherited my grandmothers 1978 Oldsmobile 88

It had never been garaged, sat out in winters, the soft top rotted away, leather interior was cracking, and rust was eating through every panel

I loved the suspension, smoothest ride ever.
"Oh, we're moving? I didn't notice."

Sold it for $400 in 1998

By that point I had inherited my other grandmothers 1994 Lincoln Towncar.
Was kinda sad, the interior was MINT but the outside had lost ALL paint... Ford was sued for that issue but I was too late to get gibs on it,
So I drove it with no paint for years until MAJOR engine problems killed it

Then I inherited my Aunties 1999 Cadillac DeVille... drove it until a collage stoner High As Fuck went through a 4-way stop intersection... entire front of Cadi was KILL... so totaled. Stoner and I were most unharmed... stoner boi cried like a bitch as I yelled at and berated him.

Now I have my moms 2004 Cadillac SeVille... been alright, leaking from the water pump, haven't got around to fixing it yet.

Only cars I've got on "my own" are my BMW which I got for some barter work and my E-150 van which I bought from the Carmax "backlot" for cash.

So I guess I've been "lucky" on my cars

My dad passed his old car onto me when he decided to get a new car.

Worked a shitty highway has station job for a year. Paid $2k for a 1992 Chevy Lumnia with 55k on it.

After about 100k more miles, the engine dropped out of the car.

It was "free"
It was given to me.
But I was owed it and more.
And no I'm not an entitled twat.
I'm not going to explain my entire life story in a post on Veeky Forums.
And I hate people that think that they are owed things from people without earning them.

Pulled $3k off the credit card
Got the car to drive to new job in another town... job paid well enough that I paid it off and covered the needed repairs after 3-4 months.
96 civic 4dr. kept it and modded the shit out of it for 4 years.

Saved doing chores, then neighborhood work, and some of my first real job money. Bought an old mustang at auction and fixed it up as best I could.
It would still overheat in the summer on the highway, and I kept a change of shirts in the car because on the hotter days I couldn't use the AC kit I installed without overheating on normal streets. It was reliable enough, even if I ended up being late sometimes after having to pull over.

Take the bus to work for 2 months

First car was a Ranger with 230,000 miles on it from my uncle as a gift when he bought a new truck

Sold it and bought my pick of car two years later

First car I owned? Nothing my grandpa bought a corolla and decided he was too old to drive soon after. Got a free shitbox.
First car I bought? Four years and a sombrero with no insurance later I saved up 800 and my parents matched me to one

I sold soda in high school and didn't buy stupid shit. I made about $1,000 my junior year and $1,500 my senior year selling mt dew. Averaged probably about 20 cans a day for a dollar a piece, some days over 30 cans. I would buy 32 packs at costco for $10 when on sale, so I would make a 22$ profit per case, this was done nearly every single day of an 180 day school year . This probably wouldn't of worked if my school hadn't banned selling of all sodas/candy/unhealthy things.

I has buddies that did that with candy bars, they spent all the money on weed though

Shit are you me? I made a fucking killing when they banned unhealthy crap from school. I'd buy candy bars, chips, and soda from costco and sell them. When my parents got non dial up internet in high school I added pirated cds of music and pornos to my catalog which brought in the big $$.

Almost forgot about my beef jerky enterprise.
Cheap flank steak, dried spices and salt, cheap blade grinder, *special* blend of sauces, plastic containers, air filters, small portable fan and mini-fridge, and a couple days. Sold it all through middle school. Wrestlers and football players would buy that shit by the pound by the end of the first year.

>mfw I've been making jerky since middle school because I saw a Good Eats episode about how to make it
>never thought about selling it to the jocks

10/10 idea wish I steal it and go back in time 10 years and add it to my inventory

>Alton Brown
That guy probably took up all of the slack that cut home-ec programs left.

Grandad taught me how to make jerky and lox. Jocks didn't go for salmon for some reason, but still sold some of that.

Eh I'm not really surprised people didn't go for lox. I don't know a single person who isn't a Jew that eats lox. Most people just give me a weird as fuck look if I offer them some lox to put on their bagel.

Shoplifted 4k from apple stores. Took 5 trips

I got a job.

This wasn't my picture, I found it off of Wikipedia.

Saved 1.5k from a few months of paychecks, bought car for 850€, put in ~80€ on repairs I did myself and have been driving the same car since. No need to buy an expensive car unless you're retarded and don't know how to properly inspect a used car.
