Renault-Nissan buying Mitsubishi

Those diabolical mother fuckers from Nissan blew the whistle on falsified fuel economy numbers over vehicles made through NMKV, and are now buying a controlling share in Mitsubishi.

What a dastardly business plan. I like this actually. Will we see a performance car platform between the two in the future?

>no link because there are literally hundreds of articles about this since this morning.

This could be what Mitsubishi needed.

With the Evo gone, Mitsubishi showed no interest in the sports car market.

I like it, lets hope Mitsubishi changes its focus.

>nissan has literally zero interest in sports cars except the GTR
>buying mitsubishi after they canned the evo
is toyota our lord and saviour in these trying days?

Just Mitsubishi motors or the whole damn thing?
They're a fuckin monopoly m8.

Look at the wall behind the nip.

No m8

That if the face of a man who has had his dream pulled from his grasp

>370z
>gtr
>g37
>to an extent the nismo juke
Get real m8 they still have it even if they can't beat the godmusheen 2016 canaro or the mega godmusheen 2015 z/28

...

What dream was that? Mitsubishi put no effort into the Evo program after 2008. I think they destroyed Ralliart earlier than that (nothing but a mere trim level for the lancer) they announced their plan was to focus on appliance like vehicles, especially crossovers and got caught lying on mpg numbers.

Osamu never looks excited though.
With the alliance of the three it puts then in the running for top 3 largest automotive groups behind VW and Toyota's god damn empire.

Imagine what they could do with their AWD/TCS know-how.

Or imagine the first rwd Mitsubishi since the starion. But for now nmkv is only for kei car development and Nissan wants a stake in the south east pacific market. Where the new mirage actually has a ton of support.

Ralliart came back as a wrx fighter with about 260hp, turbo, awd and a good chassis

>Imagine what they could do with their AWD know-how
Nissan already does AWD better than Mitsubishi ever did though.

And a bogged down dct only

yep. i love how people think "know how" explains why manufacturers decide to build cars a certain way

Hyundai's trying.
Not quite there yet, but trying.

It's more about their allocated tech into research and development on whatever component. Surely even you understand different companies have more expertise in different fields. This will be the first time the two can openly compare notes, since NMKV has only ever been a 3rd party between the two.

I can't

>implying

JUST

Rest in peace, Mitsubishi.
Rest in hell, Nissan.

get a load of this filthy pleb

Toyota GOAT since the 2000gt. From shit boxes all the way to German shaming luxury

Is Hyundai involved in any motorsports other than the WRC?

How the fuck can anyone think this is a good idea? Yes Mitsubishi was on the downhill slide, Yes mitsu killed what soul it had left when they discontinued the EVO, but for fucks sake Nissan? Look at that smug fat fucking frog, he already destroyed Nissan's soul and now Mitsubishi. I would rather have had them leave the market/die off than have then bought buy that fucking piece of shit

Don't think so, but Kia is doing touring car racing iirc.

That said, what does Nissan want with Mitsubishi? What does it give them because they sure as hell didn't do for the lulz?

they evaluated that it was likely to prove a profitable investment, duh

his smile and optimism: gone

Oh! Well that explains all of it I suppose. Carry on then.

desu unless an insider leaks deal details, that's pretty much all we'll know for the forseeable future.

>chebby camaro not turning at incredible hihg speed

Nissan has not interest in the GTR either.

>That said, what does Nissan want with Mitsubishi?

Mitsubishi has distribution lines and physical dealerships in foreign countries. Nissan can use those. At lot of times, breaking into a new area (even the usa) means a huge amount of upfront costs and negotiation with politicians and expensive bribes. It's less painless to expand into other markets like SE asia by adding Mits network to what you already have.

>What a dastardly business plan.

Mitsubishi had MULTIPLE scandals in its history. Basically, it had management that was continually corrupt decade after decade. It takes a while for a monolith to fall down, but eventually it did.

The Mitsubishi conglomerate is a huge one and Mitsubishi Motors was not a major part of its earnings for a long time. So it's not a big deal to sell it off and not have to handle the long term pensions and medical plans of those retired employees.

Mitsubishi makes a bunch of kei cars and thw iMev too.

So basically they wanted to eliminate competition for the Leaf?

>A
>FUCKING
>LEAF

It's smaller and cheaper than the Leaf

Nobody is your savior. If you want a genuine nice sporty car, buy used.

>car is not even out yet

my fucking sides

Wait Nissan is buying Mitsubishi the company...? I thought they were a super giant conglomerate like 100 times bigger than Nissan.

The car branch

this, see

>370Z

>G37

>GTR
decent, but getting outdated
>inb4 Q50
New Q50 has a good drivetrain on paper, but too bad the rest of the car is shit (suspension, steering, and interior especially)

>nissan still cares about sports cars!
>here's a list of outdated cars from 2006-2008 + the fucking juke
>lets ignore what they've been doing in the meantime like how they wont produce another rwd sports car for the foreseeable future because they deleted the IDX and are making the next Z into a crossover

I'm so sick of crossovers.

They should make a Silvia/starion platform though. It would be something to compete with the brz/86. If only.

The Ralliart was more of a step between the 2.4l GSR/VRX and the Evo. It was also AWD and turbo, though overpriced compared to the WRX it was supposed to compete with.

Makes for a solid daily, though the DCT hates crawling through suburbs and in traffic.

This sucks, and the faggots at Jalopnik actually said what Ghosn did was "masterful", it's actually fucking shameful that he even allowed someone to blow the whistle on Mitsubishi because the cars in question were Mitsu's wearing Nissan badges, I hate that frumpy little faggot Ghosn

It was masterful, doesn't mean they're praising him like a good guy

The world isn't black and white you nitwit

>The world isn't black and white you nitwit

That has nothing to do with what I said you fucking moron, he's the worst thing that ever happened to Nissan
>forcing the lineup to have dull, boring designs save the GTR and Z car
>forcing every car except said cars already mentioned to have CVT
And on top of that we won't get beastly Sentra's or an S chassis successor, or the IDX

He's literally the automotive industry's version of the Antichrist

i like this, maybe nissan is finally realizing they need to throw in dsg into their cars instead of trying to push cvt's.

>fwd cvt cars
>opt. dsg fwd cars
>dsg awd cars
>auto rwd cars
and manual for plebs

Please, the CVT racket was started by Ghosn, he's not going to abandon shit transmissions that can be made cheaply and sold for a fucking mint, it's their bread and butter

The look on his face says it all.
JUST

Brz/86 arent doing that well in terms of sales compared to other toyota and subaru models. It wouldnt make sense business-wise for nissan to make a direct competitor for models that dont sell. I wish that they would, but i can see why they arent. Face it, to 95% of the general public cars are just a method of transportation the quickest way from point A to point B.

That's the most valuable thing mitsubishi has is the evo drivetrain which could be implemented in Nissans crossovers cvt is fine for certain applications like fwd and mated to their vq, anything else and cvt is shit especially awd

I bet you those DCT transmissions cost a hell of a lot more to make than their CVTs, and since the bottom line is all that matters to him, why would he change it? IF he put it in a Nissan, and that's a yuge IF, it would probably be only in the Z which would take away from the reason why people buy them in the first place; driver feel

And? His legalized takeover of Mitsubishi was still brilliant even though he's a piece of shit

>tell everyone about Mitsubishi's mileage tricks
>their stocks tank
>3 weeks later buy a controlling stake of the company at a discount

Might put it in their nismo z, or some special track pack nismo z.

I'd rather see them co-develop something to compete with the Toyobaru twins.

Lightweight RWD, turbo i4. Revive the Silvia and Starion nameplates for it.

See But that would be amazing though. Have it make 250 hp and kick toyobaru into finally upping the power the 86 makes stock in order to stay competitive.

>new starion
pls

Won't happen, they already killed they're version which was the IDX

I just want Nissan to make a S16

...

...

Try mazda m8
They're still making mx-5s and the new rx is coming soon

Hey, is that some Denkersmobile?

Front and back are a bit blocky but otherwise it is a damn nice looking car. Until they cancelled it.

what's denkersmobile?

He's like those old men in porn manga.

This. Let's hope for another AWD, twinturbo V6 3000GT - Nissan's already got most of the parts.

Ghosn: "aha now I get to rueen zees aza companee"

Osamu Masuko: "kuso. my regacy is ruined. I wirr neva be abuh to reverse it."

>DSG
DCT you doofus.

Like I said in the other thread, the president of mitsu looks so sad

The G37 still technically exists, it's just renamed the Q50 (4 door)/Q60 (2 door) for some retarded reason, infiniti's new naming system makes literally zero sense. Still uses the same VQ37.

>not using PDK

>tripfag in charge of not being a complete retard
filtered :^)

>nissan doesn't want to do rwd anymore, as proven by canning idx and making the Z cars a POS crossover
elaborate how nissan buying mitsubishi will lead to a rwd mitsubishi being developed

Maybe Renault will help. Renault Sport does pretty neat things, pulling the best stuff from Nissan, megane RS, revival of Alpine, Twingo RR, etc...

Or maybe they'll go with Nissan and sell rebadged puke.

>goodbye soul

What the fuck has RenaultSport done to help with the shitty lineup currently offered from Nissan? Nothing
What will RenaultSport do now that that evil fucker just bought Mitsubishi?
Nothing

MORE JUKE IT IS!
