and that's all I got

cute CX dude

I miss the old girl :(

So what ever happened to the idea of an overnight meet to make a trip around the peninsula?
that just not of interest to enough people?

that sounds pretty sweet. i'd be down

probably the fact that you have to drive through grays harbor turned people off.

i wana try the trip with a friend (inc hurricane ridge) in one day. shooting for memorial day weekend.

you being serious? we can just detour through tulips and drop into hoqiuam
as for hurricane ridge, thatd be a good one too.

if we can get some ideas i guess we'll make a strawpoll for route choices.
i know a full weekend is tough to get many people on board with so we'll need some day trip ideas as well.

was mostly joking. I live in GH. its a shitty place but not the worst by far. theres just nothing to do here.

im pretty flexible assuming truckfags are even welcome

why is the meet so tiny? can we meet somewhere between Marysville and Auburn? Im in North Seattle and would be down to go on a drive

it was just an unofficial meet among a couple Veeky Forumstists that had a free weekend to work on a shitbox. last meet I think we had around 8 people come

I would be interested in coming, but I live up north in Bellingham. Not trying to drive that far.

You're the furthest North of anyone. Second most North where we've been meeting at is in Granite Falls.

bump

Should meet in Oly travel the Indians Pen suck it up through GH and end up past Rochester. I live in Chehalis so that would be cool.

you in the WA kik?

The what?

there is a kik chat for the meet

we have a Kik chat room for the meets, post your username and we'll get you added in

Do we have a route set yet?

I remember other car groups (not Veeky Forums based) having various meets. One time, their choice of meeting dinner place was at my favorite Round Table Pizza place. It was a great spot because it shared a large lot with an office park AND a variety of other shops AND was across the street from another plaza mall AND Harbor Freight Tools. It must have been some online forum group because a LOT of the VW bugs came from out of state (ORegon, CAlif, one MN and one OHio). 2 bugs had different types of towed carts (cute and small) obviously made for Bugs. They planned well by having large parking areas to go to at each stop.

From how they were talking inside, the out of staters came to have a tour of the seattle area attractions with their Seattle area friends serving as guides. The actual number of Bug fans was larger because this group was the group that decided to go to dinner at this place and was not the day tour group.

It would be nice to have a tourist style tour of some area not too far away but still far enough to be a scenic washington tour. There's some places like that town with the all german theme in building designs. Since this is the Veeky Forums group already living in WA (and not a group made of Veeky Forums members from out of state coming here to have the seattle members show them around) it would be good to find some out of the way places we don't normally go to.

What is there to do at the peninsula? I know lots of retirees go there. There are gambling casinos but no thanx. Olympic National Park has a seasonal route. We could drive to Mount Saint Helens and visit the various official visitor centers along the way up. The elk herds should be about if you have telephoto lens. It's a nice drive with multiple visitor stops along the way so those stop breaks make driving nicer due to variety.

It seems that various others that have previously toured washington have established "routes" already. For example:

Olympic Peninsula Road Trip:

Five most-scenic Washington state p drives:
exotichikes.com/five-of-the-most-scenic-national-park-drives-washington-state/

The Olympic national park seasonal access road drive is to a remote location. You can see it on a WA state map. Hurricane Ridge in the park is just outside Port Angeles. As for >that town with the all german theme
it is named Leavenworth and it is not all that great. It's a small kitschy tourist trap and makes me even wonder how many of the shopkeepers live there or commute there from out of town.

Should all Veeky Forums meets always include a stop at the best or largest auto parts store in the vicinity of the tour route? That would certainly keep to the Veeky Forums theme.

>cant you guys make like a /meet/ general or something?
You really want to make it confusing? What would help Veeky Forums the most is banning that troll guy who keeps posting all the troll threads. He's the same guy that trolls other threads with that yellow color mockery laugh face or those laughing girls/guys. He makes so many new short lived threads he causes Veeky Forums threads to age out quickly rather than hang around a bit. Or perhaps that is his desire to begin with.

bump

Bump. Please add kik names to join our chat if interested in going.

A little too far for me, live on the east side of Washington.

Highway 123 opened up, lets do that.

123 is cool. it's a shame it costs so much to get into the park, the road up to paradise is amazing

You can do 123 for free, but yeah to go up to paradise you pay. Kinda lame.

I'd also vote windy ridge.

>windy ridge

damn

It's very fun. Road surface isn't the best so you need to be on the lookout for bumps and cracks that will not mix well with low cars.

Here's a route I'd like to propose. We eat at walking man brewery in stevenson for lunch and then go back the way we came.

google.com/maps/dir/Randle, WA 98377/Walking Man Brewing/@46.3505692,-121.995565,57186m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x5496cf96b4d79c09:0x136cc84c3d640fe4!2m2!1d-121.9572497!2d46.535335!1m5!1m1!1s0x0:0x968c3a0e1b2ce676!2m2!1d-121.8838947!2d45.6922701

Of course its quite a journey to even get to randle. This would be an all day event 100%.

>cant you guys make like a /meet/ general or something?

"Which meet are you referring too?" "What's Westheimer? Are you talking about the Socal meet?" "Wait, you're giving me a ride to the one in Washington, right?"

And more. A meet general would be stupid.

i doubt we'd be able to sell enough people on this route, at least on a sunday.

meant to reply to

Yeah, I can see that being an issue. Also likely there will be more traffic.

Voting for a cruise to Leavenworth

Western Bros meet in Monroe and Eastern Bros meet in Spokane or something, everyone meets in the middle

I'm near leavenworth, add me to the kik group @drakewest1738

>Highway 123 opened up, lets do that.
>it's a shame it costs so much to get into the park

As of May 9th, Paradise at the end of the road still has nine feet of snow.

they plow it m8

I drove to paradise in march

Can someone make a straw poll with a few route options? Let's see how many miles you guys would be up for on the meet

bumping for a strawpoll

Before putting up a poll, we probably need a few concrete choices for discussion. It's so fuzzy as to what even exists as a choice other than Hurricane Ridge. And the choices should specify things like "Discover Pass Required" and "Chains Required" unless part of the adventure is allowing people to make a horrible mistake of showing up, driving over, and then having to leave because they cannot park without a pass or travel further without chains.

is that dude nuts

pretty sure he clinks when he walks at least.

well we could run hurricane ridge, windy ridge
leavenworth via hwy2 or loop it back on 97 and i90, head up to mount baker or venture out on the north cascade hwy20

Mount Rainer, Hurricane ridge drive, overnight peninsula trip, winddy ridge, hwy 123 to paradise road.

It would be neat if there was only some sort of machine factory tour that could also be part of the meet.

There's the Le May May museums

How does one acquire a grey market car (RHD, newer than 25 year old) in WA?

I was told up until about 2 years ago it was possible to register a grey market vehicle with only Canadian registration and you didn't need customs paperwork. Now you do..

le may meet would be dope

I don't know. There was an Evo 3 for sale in Seattle but don't think it was street legal because he said it was a track car project.

That's like five minutes from me so yeah that'd be cool.

What time is this happening? Evening would be best for me since I won't even be home until midday.

>Evening
Obviously, drives to Paradise would be a day affair since we would combine that with meals and walk around.

I'd also like to compare notes on detailing and after a trip and meet was selected, I'd probably ask if someone would bring their power washer so we could see it in operation and determine if we wanted to get one too. Things like that could happen.
