People said before that critical in particular is kind of worthless on pierce gunning, and weakness exploit isn't that great IMO for pierce because you only hit like 1-2 shots in the actual weak hitzones for a lot of monsters.
I suppose I'll go for it, in any case, and wait for someone in a /mhg/ tell me I'm wrong and call me a shitter.

if you attack a spot with love defense (hitezone value 45 or higher), your attack gets 50% affinity

Dino, Shigeru, or Hot Monkey Dick HH?

I think you're confusing that with weakness exploit, which you're correct in your assumption that it isn't great for pierce. Affinity in general is good for everything, except LBG I guess.

affinity isn't worthless on pierce gunning, chain crit works well with pierce, it's just that we isn't great for pierce because you won't always be hitting weak points

there are a lot of boring gathering and small monster quests at the start but if you ignore all the non-key ones required for advancing the game, you'll have way more fun

if you are talking endgame then Rajang has an amazing horn. Just be aware that you won't have access to it's final upgrade for a long time since it requires Hyper Rajang parts
It also needs Sharpness+1 but it balances out with it as long as you can deal wih maintaining the AUL song which has a shorter duration than AUS

I actually main HBG but I switch to a blade when I fight hellblade because I'm not confident in avoiding his spin. I avoid it like 95% of the time but I'm not a fan of getting 1 shotted over a small fuck up.
