Thanks. Improved it one or two minutes later. Also the pool is much larger now. Gonna take a short break, around 5-10 minutes or so.

Just stopped playing after about 6 hours on server posted before. Was having a blast. The server is still going, and we recently have beaten the Eye of Cthulhu and a close attempt of beating Queen Bee with the players on the server (16100 HP, lost at 600 HP)

Keep in mind the server is still vanilla and pre-hardmode.

Guys I want to get back into this game but I want to do it by building a base that is optimal beyond belief for defensive purposes, while I try to make it look as pretty as possible without compromising how optimal it is in doing so.

Is there any strategy at all one can do in building that will protect them wrong wraiths or other floaty creatures that sail through blocks?

not actually at floating island height or your NPCs will get ate by wyverns, but far enough above the ground that wraiths and shit can't reach

I don't understand. How would that work? It seems like they'd just hover through it and hit you.

You could build a little village on stilts using wooden beams or whatever vertically aligned background wall suits you. It's up off the ground so wraiths are a non-issue and depending on your method of entry (rope, stairs, wings, teleporter, etc) you might not be bothered by anything that walks/jumps either.

Nice looking villages don't have to be inefficient to look nice. One or two buildings could be the storage/crafting warehouses while the other places are just NPC housing, with the most frequently used NPCs located closer to the warehouses.

As far as I know, If it flies independent of blocks and can pass through blocks and it's spawn conditions are met you're fucked outside of covering your houses with outside facing traps.

I've had similar houses, and the wraiths frequently get stuck in the storage room until they're led to the edge walls.
