Alright, so I've been trying to make a horror game in Goldsource. But, being a poorfag with no actual internet, and recently recovering from having NO internet, I've had to make do with Sven Co-op's SDK and phoneposting. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to playtest for shit, Google's not helping, and I'm at my wits end.

tl;dr, does anyone know how to configure the SDK so I can playtest without the 'map not in current map pool' error?

the player character is subject to the same physics as the enemies so yea. i just constrain the player differently during kicks so you don't go pirouetting off into space.

Well he didn't fall after 2 seconds of walk, so it's something.

So yesterday I got the feedback that I needed to make falling on death for Boku more understandable when trying to get a puzzle cube to a lower area.

One of you suggested a snake biting him but not the cube, and I loved that idea but the QT snake modeling went badly as you could have seen in the last thread so I replaced it with a plant monster coming out of a log.

Since he doesn't kill the puzzle cube you take a different route back down, if you were to push the puzzle cube on the smaller routes down, it could be against a wall so you couldn't get behind it to push it away from the wall, unlike if you push it down the plant monster route.

I'm hoping that design will be understandable enough for me not to need text/terrible tutorial bubbles or something at all.

i'm trying my hardest to make this actually fun and playable but due to the nature of how the characters move its going to be a challenge every step of the way (no pun intended). my goal is pick up and play controls that the player doesn't have to wrestle with.

Start with a neighbourhood in new york. Then as your game sells, implement more city.

That's why i had to have an image of him on the title screen. If the player sees that before they start the game they should know how to look at character correctly.

It's kinda hard to portray anything at 16x32 and 5 colors.

Shit happens. I just found out my ex is already dating someone else a week after we ended a 5 years long relationship. Things like that makes you think a lot, but why lettingh that stop you for doing what you like? For me deving it's actually the one thing that keeps me distracted and makes me feel better.

Nah man they are okay, it looks a bit more original with the goggles, and yeah I think it would be hard to misread a sprite if you see a full image of it in the title screen.

I think changing the sprite would be good but I don't think removing the goggles entirely is necessary, maybe just the shape a bit. I think the main thing though is that his posture is very girly. Though maybe that is what you are going for.
