Latin in highschool

hello everyone I'm from Rome and here latin is a mandatory subject in highschool ask me anything

This is an 18+ board. Begone.

How much is Latin similar to Italian?

Good reply to a 7 hours old thread.

I agree.

Grammar structure is similar at 90%

how do you know english too then?

>How much is Latin similar to Italian?
As much as french or spanish are.

You can't call it mandatory if it's only even offered only on two types of high school curriculums.
You don't wanna do it, just pick a different curriculum.

God no, French is very divergent. Italian is one of the closest Romance languages to Latin, only Romanian and weird micro-languages like Ladino are closer.

You misunderstand me. I meant that latin is as similar to italian as italian is to french, not that latin is as similar to italian as it is to french.

>here latin is a mandatory subject in highschool
No it's not, it just depends on what kind of secondary school you went to. And the Latin teaching ones are always the shit ones.

is it true that Italians are awful at Latin?

Classico?

Um, no.

Most Italians study Latin in HS.

Not him but here in Italy highschool lasts five years so 18 year olds go to highschool.

Dutch here, it was mandatory at the highest high school level here as well. My graduation exam was translating some parts of Ab Urbe Condita
