If you're going to play this selective game with evidence just to say Asuka doesn't have any friends, then you might as well consider 95% of all CG interactions being simply "friendless" idol relations if they're not New Wave-level friendships. Koume is simply speculative based on mutual proxy to Ranko. But half of CG unit formations are based on actual friendship or close familiarity, so Ranko still counts, and by the same token by anime continuity, Mirei could also count. The lack of material that expanded on the episode 25 Ranko/Asuka/Mirei unit is not a lack of evidence that they ever did more than just stand with each other, considering that expanded material were only limited to idols with voices.

Why do we bother with anything canon if it's not regarded as canon then? Might as well go 100% headcanon and fanon, since we're already halfway there.

Idols working together doesn't mean they're friends. In CG, countless units exist. Might as well consider everyone a friend of everyone else. At that point, yeah, she has friends.

Otherwise, there are characters that often interact with each other, even not as part of a unit. There's a difference between that and being in one scene together.

The closest thing to a friend Nino has is probably Arisu, like says but I have no clue what the top part of that post says because if you're not counting game and anime, might as well just forget about everything and fap to doujins.

That's why I said half the CG units are based on friendship or at least close familiarity, similar concepts if not mutual exclusive. Maybe it's actually a little less than that, like a third, since if you look at the list of units the majority of them are really fucking random without even a remote basis. But then some get later expanded on when they formerly had nothing substantial to them, like Monochrome Lily. But no, I realize not all of them are even worth a damn.

It's like, what standard do we consider a friend anyway? There's the inplication that Nono and Rin are familiar with each other on a passing basis, but have never been otherwise shown to interact with each other anywhere in canon material. And yet her voice debut interview has Nono considering Rin to be a friend. Who knows.
