"it'll be easy to find one of these from the early 2000's with low miles in good condition for a decent price, considering they weren't even that expensive when they came out and I see them all over the place" -me, before trying to find a used WRX
Those are really nice, but anything less than like 10k is gonna be a clapped out clap trap of clappers.
Liam Smith
If it's old and running it won't be parted with. If it's being sold it's already got one wheel in the grave.
Josiah Jones
unless you find those rare grandmas who bought them because they were upsold on the priciest model
Dylan Brooks
Blame dudebros
Jordan Baker
Considering how rough the ride is compared to the average geriatric's choice sedan I don't think granny would've held onto it for that long.
Benjamin Morgan
I thought I'd lucked out when I found one someone's wife was making him sell but it was actually a dead car rolling.
Liam Gonzalez
Has anyone ever cooked toast using bread in the hood scoop?
Luke Reyes
What was wrong with it?
Austin Thompson
It spun a bearing and because I have no idea when to cut my losses I bought a replacement engine. It also has some moderate rust but that's expected from any car that's spent over a decade in New England and it's not terrible compared to some I've seen.
Jose Morgan
Should've done an EJ25T and STi transmission swap. Make it a boyracing hellhound in a WRX wrapper.
Jonathan Rodriguez
Yeah that would be nice but it wasn't in the budget. I actually looked at totaled STIs that could be stripped for parts and people wanted more than what I originally paid for the car for wrecks that had been wrapped around trees. Maybe someday.
Ian Martin
It's much easier to just buy an STI and put WRX badges on it
Benjamin Garcia
Or put impreza badges, remove all wings, and put an impreza hood with a hidden front mount intercooler
Elijah Ortiz
I got myself a completely stock 2001 WRX with 85K miles for £3000. Quite easy to find a decent one in the UK
Ian Wright
got a decent condition GD STI for 21.5k with 50k miles.
where i live that basically means i stole the car.
Colton Gomez
Dealing with >RUST like a mother fucker even 08+ >understeer on any trim from the factory > ULH that needs to be replaced or you'll end up with headgasket issues, ringland failure, and piston #4 exploding >Ricer tax
If you want a subbie you really need to want one otherwise you're putting up with tons of bullshit. They're not worth the asking price considering how unreliable they are and how abused they are. But it does keep the boyracers away from proper fast cars like s2k and 350z
Evan Nguyen
>s2k >350z The only people I see driving those cars are even worse than subaru drivers
Alexander Lewis
Why are these so popular? It's absurd. They are mediocre sort-of sports cars anyways.
For some reason all the vaping retards decided all at once that they were the only car they wanted
Brayden Parker
Except those are proper sports cars and likely to be in much better condition than the same year WRX, not to mention reasonably priced.
Bentley Campbell
typical CL post >a few mods >never beat on, I've babied this thing frum day 1, yo >250k miles >little bit of rust >(entirerockeriscompletelydestroyed) >oh yeah, salvage title >$15k, no low bawlers >also, it doesn't run needs a new head gasket I think
Isaac James
i just looked in my areas craigslist at WRX's, S2k, and 350z. They are all hovering around 10k for average condition.
Where the hell do you live?
Grayson Foster
Try finding a GC8 2.5RS in decent shape for less than $10k.
Ontario, also the wrx is not worth that asking price
John Phillips
Neither is an s2k with 150k miles and a mismatched fender for 8500.
s2k a shit
Ryder Rogers
S2k is a good car, wrx not so much. I wouldn't touch that one either though.
Jackson Green
Friend's dad bought one. He took me for a fast drive in it, they're pretty fast, and they handle really well. It's surprising companies sell stock vehicles so closely resembling rally cars, I remember in my elementary school car book reading days, the book went on about how crazy the 250bhp Escort rally car was compared to the stock Ford Escort.
Luke Torres
Around where I live in Florida, they were extremely popular from like 2006-2010.
They seem to have all disappeared now. I always saw young teen/early twenties guys driving them, so I guess they've all been beat to shit and that's why there are none on the road anymore.
Ethan Williams
>230bhp >3100lbs >Fast Sure I guess, also they don't handle well stock they need a real rear sway bar not that garbage tin one from the factory
Eli Lewis
can confirm. even my STI was shit until i put a swaybar on it.
Brandon Gomez
His was one of the newer ones, and to be fair, I don't think most amateur drivers should have a car much faster than that.
Lincoln Williams
A decent STI beats both those cars around pretty much every circuit unless you do some autocross or something that's just all turn no burn.
There are plenty of beat on S2000's and 350z's, especially 350z's. The nice S2000's will set you back a lot more than a nice STI.
Sebastian Hernandez
Okay seeing as a sti is worth more and comparable to the nismo 350z that gets Corvette z06 times. A nice s2k will be about 14 to 16,. Sti a real one will be closer to 20 same with the nismo
Camden King
You can pick up decent STI's for around 6.9-8k for Classics/Blobs/Bugs.
Most of the 350's going at that range are just normal ones and you get similar quality S2000's going for that price bracket.
Nicholas Cook
Also this is the British car market, not american
John Perry
>Except those are proper sports cars *tips rear wheels*
M'nocar.
Justin Price
Okay that explains a lot, wrxes have really bad rice tax in America which puts them in price performance disadvantage.
Whatever helps you deal with the bants
Jack Lee
>unironically using fastest laps as a car buying guide
you've been taking this board too seriously
Jason Martin
I was on the same hunt for 6 months then i finally got a bugeye WRX wagon. Keep trying user, you'll see that white whale soon.
Isaac Cruz
350z shills need to leave they are and always will be shit that retards buy
Jack Wood
a lot of the japanese sports cars in america are like that, you can get the same car from a different market for much cheaper. just look at the prices of evos here in america, and then compare it to yurop. it really fucking sucks man
Levi Perry
Why do you think that would work? The scoop is an intake for the top mount intercooler, not a giant exhaust port
Jaxson Adams
>stock WRX >rough ride
pick one. they have body roll like a Taurus
Isaac Green
Consider a Legacy GT, OP, The market for those isn't nearly as fucked.
Lincoln White
Having a Nip car fetish here in america truly is hell
