try r9k

brand new vehicles

collectibles

drugs and alcohol, cigarettes

Drugs, alcohol and the binge eating that follows

Television subscriptions

Overkill internet subscriptions for 300mb internet speeds when all you do is browse the internet and torrent a bit of porn and movies

Shitty magazines

Starbucks, costa coffee etc.

Expensive $15 lunches each day that consist of starbucks coffee, $5 panini or sandwich, snacks and soda. You can make your lunches for $30 a week easily

Clothing they really cannot afford - e.g. 19 year old supreme fags spending 50% of their income on t shirts and weed - Same goes for furniture or any shit really.

Overkill gaming PCs when you only play a few video games

All of the above shit can be bad if you're spending the majority of your money on them. Some people earn 60k a year, have no investments, are somehow in debt, and save no money... These are the kind of people I mean.

Food is easily the biggest thing I see my peers wasting money on.

Constantly going out or getting carry out because they have no ability to cook.

Close 2nd is alcohol and drugs

Me
>booze
>gas station lunch
Thats pretty much it.

Jesus why am i always poor i make like 60k.

Holy shit.

You mean me ;(

Kill me. Just do it.

Well...my co-workers are these people. 'Most spend their money on:

>take out food
>weed
>alcohol
>new phones, TVs, game console/games, PC parts, performance car parts

I work in a shit tier call centre in NZ earning less than the living wage. Most of the guys are either immigrants who can barely speak English or they are NZers like me and take up huge crippling debt.

A guy I know got at $15000 bank loan for a fucking motorbike.

You explain to them how that's a bad deal or what long term gratification is and they just role their eyes.

So basically, escapism and trinkets is what they spend their money on. Personally I have become very good with money, however my one weakness is spending more than I should on clothing. Men have become a lot like women, heh. Style and clothing are important though, im looking and starting a brand of my own, I think if I make an effort it could work in NZ like Huffer did

Smart phones. They have their uses but people can't really justify getting the expensive ones.

Fuck I wish I could make 60k a year. I don't even know what I would do with all that money.

Seriously, I make 38k and always have a good amount left over at the end of each month, 60k id be living like a god damn king

I'd say credit card interest payments. You literally get nothing in exchange

I buy video games on steam like a damn addict. Also gambling.

Actually moderate consumption of alcohol is linked to better health, longer life, and an increase in overall happiness.

I'd say wine or beer is a wise investment.

> new cars
> art and collectibles
> expensive clothing or shoes

umbrellas, they all suck

ud buy korean bbq all day and wonder why u have no car

Health foods that aren't actually healthy. Non gmo, glutten free, organic, fat free, etc.

New cars. Auto loans scam, fake credit scam, etc

I like to go to visit cities and stay in hotels/airbnbs. I like going to concerts and buying music. I like taking my girlfriend out to dinner or buying her chocolates as a surprise. I hope that helps :>

>What are the top things people spend their money on that they don't even remotely need?

Everything.

You don't "need" a single thing.

The point of money is to spend it to improve your quality of life. If we're talking need you can live in your car, feed off ramen noodles and work 16 hrs a day to cultivate millions in your bank account.

But id say someone making $15/hr would have a better quality of life than your.

so what is life like in rural Tennessee?

Actually, alcohol was just recently directly linked to seven different forms of cancer.

I like watches OP. I mean, my phone tells the time so I dont need one, ita pretty much jewelry. Everytime I get a $3-4K commission from work I take a part of it and put it away for the next watch I'm going to buy.

What I spend too much money on is books. I don't spend too much money on anything else.

Worst things though is expensive coffee and food every day - and new cars. You literally can't spend your money on anything worse than a new car.

>Actually, alcohol was just recently directly linked to seven different forms of cancer.

>But id say someone making $15/hr would have a better quality of life than your.
$15/hr is poverty tier m8

Depends on country/region. Mate.

>brand new vehicles

A 15,000 USD Sedan that lasts 15 years is a pretty good investment.

Any tips for living in my car?

I've been wanting to road trip across the USA, so I figure I can just live in my car for a bit.

I earn 50K in Chicago and I still have a lot of money left over.

My rent is 700$/mo & utilities and other living expenses are maybe $800-900 in total.

It's not hard to live a regular life, it's just that most people get brand new cars or buy things they don't need when they get a raise/better job.

I have credit cards but only use them for building credit & rewards.

that's not actually normal, you cannot describe it as a "regular" life.

$700/mo is basically poverty conditions nowadays, and you would need to spend about 50% more in other expenses to even consider "middle class"

As an alcoholic, alcohol. Or other drugs for other people.

Not him, but a good sleeping bag, regular maintenance, and a few places you can shower and relax

Any way to avoid being car jacked by some black?

black lives matter bumper sticker

That's actually not a bad idea, but something tells me that it could make me an even softer target.

>Any way to avoid being car jacked by some black?
A gun

it scales

>used to make sub 25k
>always thought I would live like a king if i made 85k
>make 90k now

mo money mo problems

Health insurance

10 gigs of cell phone internet for 100 dollars.

huge fucking rip off.

>prove to me that a poison causes cancer!

I think you've got bigger problems to worry about, pal.

nope

Yeah. I live on the South side, but I agree that it's not the best in terms of location. Wouldn't call it poverty as most of my neighbors are white.

I could just as easily live closer to downtown by splitting a 2 or 3 bedroom.

Gold teeth?

Fast food.

I work at a bank and I cringe when I see people spend $20 a day on take out. Assuming 5 days a week that's $5200 a year

I live in LA :o

Ridiculously expensive phone and cable plans

Retarded meme consumer electronics

Overly expensive gifts for their spouse

I cringe when people work in retail banking for any meaningful period of time

Don't worry, natural selection always takes place over time.

I know what you mean. I'm in the military and there are heaps of guys in there late teens/early 20s that blow every paycheck on partying/food/new clothes/car payments etc. There are guys making 50k a year at 21 who have just bought a $20K car on hire purchase. I really don't understand it, but I suppose when you're that young there's still time to save for the future. I didn't start saving until I joined at 24 (was poor before that) and 2 years later have over $60k.

earning less than the living wage? Min wage is over $15p/h right? What do you think a "living wage" would be?

Medical insurance. Just don't get sick

All the people i know without med insurance spend the extra money on homeipathic remedies for all the ailments they cant afford to have treated

manual transmission

Not if you're American. THANKS OBAMA

True. I have not had medical insurance for 10 years. I saved easily $20k or more with this decision.

So lets say tomorrow I'm playing basketball and blow out my ACL. The surgery and all that comes to a bill of like $15k.

So I'm still ahead.

I'm really only fucked if I get some kind of major accident or health catastrophe. And even then, my problems will be bigger that a debt.

Naw mean?

Pets.

The fact that people toil at work earning money that they then waste on cat food, vet bills etc is staggering to me.

-credit card interest

-take out

-alcohol/drugs

-fitness equipment(that goes unused)

-kitchen gizmos

-clothes, both is price and quantity

-personal care/cleaning products, half that stuff you can buy the generic.

-designer accessories

-cell phone screen replacements(buy a case!)

-pets and related costs.

- recurring services(apps, etc)

- vacations. (everyone needs a break but if you work retail for $1x an hour you shouldn't be a pretend instagram jetsetter.)

-housing. (so many people buying way too much house)

People with Internet connections that pay for Netflix, amazon video, or even espn broadcasts.

you pirate, such a badass, im wet

lol watching poor people went to high school with take vacations to mexico (always mexico) and pretend they're such high rollers makes me laugh so hard. Most can't put 10% down on a 100,000 house.

Ayy, another NZer

>mfw I see this on the news

>Spending money on a living thing that gives you unconditional love and companionship is a waste of money

i'm only defending dogs tho. cats are shit.

If you can sell it for 16k it is

i been making money off NZers, i have an account on Harmoney.. You peeps sure love debts

I guess that goes for all westernized nations really

Stuff on sale, it was half price!

New cars

Expensive rent or mortgage

Changing the entire kitchen instead of simply painting the cubboards in a new colour and maybe changing the handles

Paying more than 500$ on a pet's vet expenses. No you are not a good person for spending 10.000$ on a heart surgery for your 12 year old dog, you are a stupid fool.

Eating out several times a week

Going on super expensive vacations because x tourist trap is in vogue

Having a bazillion hobbies and just slowly filling a shed with everything from aquariums, woodworking tools, saddles for horses you don't have anymore, and 10.000$ worth of fishing equipment

Buying new and expensive clothes all the time, but I saved 50% ! Yah, and only paid 500$ for a jacket you could get for 50$ secondhand, and which will simply hang unused with your other 15 jackets

People spend money on false conceptions of needs to fulfill. Everyone has a relationship with money and it's this expression of relationship, combined with collateral and environmental risk, which constitutes a tailored platform that's more or less viable and conducive to optimize exponentially graded growth and happiness. I'd be inclined to believe that instinctively it's this understanding of our impulsive animal natures and a purely rational thought which make or break futures with regard to the equilibrium in the constant balance sheets in all levels of our lives.

ITT: Penny pinching kikes with no concept of fun

brand clothing when you can get similar stuff for like 1/4 of the price

any expensive brand stuff really

cigarettes - there's absolutely no use to them, they're just bad for your health

illegal drugs when you can just get a similar effect with cheaper alcohol

going out every weekend and buying ridiculously expensive drinks

in game purchases - I know guys who have spent hundreds of dollars on a crappy phone game

getting your own apartment as soon as you've reached legal age for reasons like "freedom", "maturity" and "independence" when you could just continue living with your parents. then you end up living alone in a crappy little 2 room apartment in a shitty area, paying an outrageous amount of rent.

>illegal drugs when you can just get a similar effect with cheaper alcohol
Actually in australia it's arguably cheaper to do illegal drugs than to drink; cheapest vodka is like $45 for a 750ml bottle.

Poor fag detected

Dem rims

All on credit as well

Kek

If it allows you to get to work without paying cab fare it is.

People with pets do live longer.

i spend at least 200 dollars a month on beer and thats a large amount of my income

The more you make the more plans you setup and the more you lose. I make 81k and save probably 15k/year. Pic related (dropped WoW subscription, was playing with 2 hair dyed sluts, slept with both and quit)

is right

Note that the rental income and tax return are now, didn't have the condo until recently so we'll see how the cost/benefits compare. Might make more in the next year if I don't get laid off; haven't had the same salary for a 12 month period in my entire life.
